pMusic 6.0.0

I don't think Pmusic is the troublemaker for your miss of track-info for audio-CD. cdda2wav fails to connect to disc-id db, so other players using this technique also fails (like gmplayer). My intention is to move to musicbrainz.org. Hopefully for Pmusic 2.5.0....
To get a fresh Pmusic startup, you can rename/delete the directory /root/.pmusic

Have not tried everything. It fixed my issue with Showing artist/title when loading audio-CD.
Thanks for improvements and bug fixing.

Easy fix! please wait for 2.5.1. I'll wait a day or 2 to see if more obvious bugs shows up.Brown Mouse wrote:Tested the latest version of Pmusic 2.5.0 in Slacko 5.3.2.7and am unable to get any track information, album art and also no lyrics to the songs using various cd's.
I'm using Pmusic version 2.3.0 in Lucid 528-04 with perfect results.

I usually use the wings GUI, which is great, but today I tried the equalizer from the default gui and it didn't work, changed to wings and it did work.. changed back to default and it did work, strange... it could be a local problem with my settings so we may need some testers with different hardware.
Mine is an athlon X2, nvidia mother board with nVidia Corporation MCP61 High Definition Audio.
I'll see what happens on my old laptop which IIRC has AC97 sound.
LATER: Yes, laptop is identical behaviour, AC'97 audio, but it is still at 2.4.4. I'll update, delete the $HOME/.pmusic dir and the relevant eq files and see what happens.
LATER still... Same in 2.5.0. I tried changing eq settings before starting pmusic to initialise the dependent files in $HOME but it didn't work.
I'm sure this worked in an earlier version but I can't recall for sure which.
Cheers

I tested like this:
- removed /root/.pmusic
- open Pequalizer, made some changes and close
- open (a fresh) Pmusic, opened equalizer from menu and everything works as expected.
My audiocard is a Asus Xonar Dx2 (pci)
This leads to another question:
I have lately built a new pc - fun-project
This includes this decent audiocard which makes sound best if Pequalizer use the Flat-preset. As always when it comes to filtering sound (ie. equalizer), I guess also Pequalizer has (in some way) a negative effect on the sound quality. This will of course only be true if your system can't benefit of the positive sides of the filtering. Is it possible to bypass the equalizer?

Just move $HOME/.asoundrc (or don.t move the backup ..see edit). This effectively disables the eq. Of course HW eq will always out perform SW eq . I can put in a setting I guess to prevent pequalizer overriding the move. EDIT: actually a setting in pmusic to just ignore the eq would be better just by simply not moving the $HOME/.asoundrc.bak, detecting that and not showing the eq, could be in preferences. Reason is, I don't want to add checkboxes and dialog to the GUI for pequaliser, it's nice and simple as is. If you need me to add code to facilitate this just yell.zigbert wrote:Is it possible to bypass the equalizer?

I guess my problem is not a big one but perhaps if it is documented in the FAQ then it will save some user some grief.

I got the same.01micko wrote:I usually use the wings GUI, which is great, but today I tried the equalizer from the default gui and it didn't work, changed to wings and it did work.. changed back to default and it did work, strange... it could be a local problem with my settings so we may need some testers with different hardware.
Equalizer did not take any effect on the music in Manager mode, but after a RESTART of Pmusic in Wings, the equalizing works as expected.... ????? Have you any idea where to start looking?
Also made some tweaks to allow a bypass function. It all seemed rather easy, and it was.... but turning it off (mv .asoundrc .asound.bak) didn't (of course) take immediate effect, so _this_ solution would better fit in the faq.
When it comes to the gui part, I don't see a bypass button (checkbox draw_indicator="false" ) looks like clutter.

I've not yet tried it in Lucid 528-04.

Re: command line pmusic
Be aware that -b (small b) will add the song to the playlist, and if playlist is not empty, nothing will start playing. To use Pmusic as a standalone commandline player, you should use the -B (capital b). This will NOT interact with the playlist or the pmusic gui-mode in any way.rodin.s wrote:Is it possible to use pmusic as command line player? I triedbut it didn't work.Code: Select all
