(solved) pmusic 4.3.8 not playig audio-CDs on dpup-wheezy

#1819 Post by charlie6 »

Hi Sigmund,
@ dpup-wheezy users at least ...
this has been solved; but i believe usefull to keep the infos on the forum in case of...
1. what went wrong
First using pMusic-4.3.8; and aftrwds on version 4.3.3 (after having deleted /root/.pmusic folder):
I've tried various pMusic settings in order to get pMusic reading an audioCD (cdda);
Files/Preferences/Replay has been set on /dev/dcrom as also on /dev/sr0 sr1 ... no difference ..!
I've set the /Menu/Setup/CD/DVD bruner in order to have cdrom as sr0 and DVD as sr1;

In pMusic, selecting Files/Read audio CD as also Music Sources/CD does not even start the drive engine ... all stays quiet;

what was working:
1.1. Eject CD works according to the current DVD/CD setup;
1.2.on the very same whatever wheezy-3.5.2.5 or 3.5.2.11 session,
both pCD and Peasy CD Player open the audio CD and display the tracks titles.

2. further testings and diggings..
doing:

Code: Select all

# rm -fr /root/.pmusic
# pmusic -j -p '.CD' -c
cp: cannot stat `/root/.pmusic/tmp/tmp_search_albumart': No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat `/root/.pmusic/tmp/xml_pmusic': No such file or directory
grep: /root/.pmusic/tmp/xml_pmusic: No such file or directory
cat: /root/.pmusic/index_mymusic: No such file or directory
#
when closing pMusic Cd Player then there is an infinite comment

Code: Select all

# /usr/local/pmusic/box_splash: line 55: 13602 Terminated              $GTKDIALOG -p pmusic_splash --center
rm: cannot remove `/root/.pmusic/tmp/splashtext2': No such file or directory
sh: line 0: echo: erreur d'écriture: Broken pipe
sh: line 0: echo: erreur d'écriture: Broken pipe
sh: line 0: echo: erreur d'écriture: Broken pipe
sh: line 0: echo: erreur d'écriture: Broken pipe
sh: line 0: echo: erreur d'écriture: Broken pipe
sh: line 0: echo: erreur d'écriture: Broken pipe
sh: line 0: echo: erreur d'écriture: Broken pipe
sh: line 0: echo: erreur d'écriture: Broken pipe
... #infinitely repeated
more ...:
when having made firstrun:
there is a tmp_cd file in .pmusic having
cddb_query: /usr/lib/libcdio.so.12: version `CDIO_12' not found (required by cddb_query)
although PFind reports /usr/lib/libcdio.so.12 is well present !

3. solution
having this last above tmp_cd content , I ran in console ... and again

Code: Select all

#cddb_query
cddb_query: /usr/lib/libcdio.so.12: version `CDIO_12' not found
Looking inside /usr/lib:
- /usr/lib/libcdio.so.12 is only a symlink to /usr/lib/libcdio.so.13.00 which comes with wheezy-3.5.2.5 and laters ... and does not meet the cddb_query needs ... :shock: although it is more recent :shock:
So need finding a genuine libcdio.so.12 !

3.1. browing the web i found a libcdio.so.12 from rpm package (no longer available at Debian repo ...) which fixed that error, and brought pMusic to display the audio-CD titles; (see attached)
3.2 another solution (prefered): compile libcddb against wheezy-3.5.2.11:
attached is that new compile pet; which also fixed the above error.
nb: the date 20130430 is the revision date reported on sourceforges libcddb repo (in fact the latest revision date is 2009 according to libcddb.org repo...)

HTH
Greetings
Charlie

missing track after ripping

#1822 Post by charlie6 »

Hi Sigmund,
on wheezy-3.5.2.5 with above posts libs installed...
i went to use pMusic CD-audio-player to rip a cd-audio (cdda): there were 15 tracks displayed; and ripping to mp3 went well ...excepted that one of the tracks was missing (i.e. track nr. 7) although it has been displayed in the tracks list.

I retried a second time with same result.

I then tried using Pcdripper-3.9.4, a first time using the cdparanoia option ---> all tracks ripped to mp3, included track 7;
and a second time using the cdda2wav option ---> also all tracks ripped to mp3, included track 7;
I also could ony rip track 7.

The cd-audio does not seem to be damaged , no riss nor scratch ... could even say «brand new alike»! ...??? :shock:

Did someone already experiment this and maybe found an explanation or a fix?

Greetings, Charlie

Charlie
It would be interesting to know what backend command that Pcdripper used for cdda2wav.
The pMusic command is found in /root/.pmusic/tmp/exec_copy

Hi Sigmund,
zigbert wrote:...The pMusic command is found in /root/.pmusic/tmp/exec_copy
Here is an extract from
/root/.pmusic/tmp/exec_copy
related to track 7 record cdda2wav command:
the difference between track7 and the 14 others (cd-audio having 15 tracks in it) lays in the infos is brackets: a part of the title comes with brackets surroundig one of the infos (see code hereunder)
cdda2wav dev=/dev/sr0 -t 7 -Owav - | ffmpeg -i pipe:0 -f mp3 -ac 2 -ar 44100 -ab 192000 -id3v2_version 3 -metadata artist="Artist Name" -metadata title="Composer 5 Stücke im G, op.204 - 1. Mit Freude ("Perseverare, diabolicum")" -metadata album="Artist Name - The Complete Duo Recordings CD11" -metadata year="2012" -metadata track="7" -metadata genre="Instrumental" -y "/mnt/sdd2/0007 - Artist Name - Composer 5 Stücke im G, op.204 - 1. Mit Freude ("Perseverare, diabolicum").mp3"
Then:
1. I launched in a separate terminal the same command and got the following comments:
# cdda2wav dev=/dev/sr0 -t 7 -Owav - | ffmpeg -i pipe:0 -f mp3 -ac 2 -ar 44100 -ab 192000 -id3v2_version 3 -metadata artist="Artist Name" -metadata title="Composer 5 Stücke im G, op.204 - 1. 2. I also tried the same command line having deleted

and
("Perseverare, diabolicum")
results: The rip started and ended OK ! :D

3. Now what does PCDripper differ from?
Applied to the same tarck7, here is the command line using cdda2wav: it seems to left aside the infos between brackets coming with the CD-audio:

As you have found, Pcdripper uses lame for conversion, while pMusic uses ffmpeg, so it's not that easy to compare. But if I got it right, this command would work for you?

Code: Select all

# cdda2wav dev=/dev/sr0 -t 7 -Owav - | ffmpeg -i pipe:0 -f mp3 -ac 2 -ar 44100 -ab 192000 -id3v2_version 3 -metadata artist="Artist Name" -metadata title="Composer 5 Stücke im G, op.204 - 1. Mit Freude (\"Perseverare, diabolicum\").mp3"

Thank you helping out
Sigmund

I might be wrong believing the brackets could be the culprits: suppressing the «/"» and «"/», as i just noticed another title on another track having brackets but no / nor " has been succesfully ripped.

Ok, so remove the quotes from metadata and outfile (the slash (\) is added to the command and is not a part of the metadata itself). Should be doable. Added to todo-list
