Request for help!
I have an unstable internet connection, which fails to build a fresh index of podcast channels (since the building process check if podcast url is alive before adding it to the index file).
If you have a reliable connection and are willing to let it run for some hours, I would be very thankful if you could send me a fresh index file. All you have to do is to press the button 'Build podcast index' - and wait...
Send me a pm, and you'll get my mail address.
Thank you

I have some mp3s that are over an hour (i.e. trance sessions) and PMusic (currently 5.4.0) doesn't show their correct length.
This was using Slacko 6.9.6.4 32-bit. I uploaded the displayed song below if you need something to test:

Thanks zigbert. I think having a "minimal interface" button would be handy, where you can turn off certain areas. I looked around but didn't see anything. Something that could transform pmusic into something like this for example (attached) or like the gnome-mplayer image above, when you don't need the browser or playlist.
edit: Well, dragging the bottom right corner up seems to work now, not sure how I missed that.

Since pMusic have a separated backend, it is not a huge task to build a simplified frontend. There already exist one similar (Menu->View->NowPLaying), but this one is maximized rather than your request of a minimized.
The question is more if it is a good idea to add a new button to the main window since there already is a handgrip bottom-right. pMusic is a complex music environment, and the hardest struggle is to keep the gui simple...
Note, that clicking on the pMusic tray-icon hides the frontend, while the backend goes on playing. Click one more time to show it again.

Is it incompatible with Lucid? All I get is "failed to install". No further details
I've tried both mirrors and switching download directories.
It's one of those rare moments where it feels like Linux is saying "up yours" , rather than Windows, which does so on a daily basis
(Running lupu_528 on my laptop, current pmusic version is 4.6.2)

Here you will find some packages made for Lucid.
pMusic5.2.7 is the most recent available. If this works for you, I can make a lucid-pet of the latest version.
pMusic 5 is much faster than pMusic 4, so it is heavily recommended.

Edit: old version 5.2.4
Have you tested the first launch of pmusic i.e. no configuration files
when the user doesn't have an internet connection?
...because I got a nagging message that I needed to download a file (radio stations list)
from internet and I can't because I don't have internet
It was then awkward to set up for music, but I succeeded!

I did more checking of xerus 8.3 and Barry is using old version of pmusic
version 5.2.4
and he is leaving in a link (see image)
That caused my problem.

There are 3 ways to activate browser-modedon570 wrote:I tested in Xerus and it works well, including on first run.
I noticed one thing....
After making a favorites list apparently the only way to go back to browser mode
is to use the menu. I was looking for a button to press
______________________________________________________
- in the Music_source menu (as you describe)
- press the favorite-button (heart) which shows link to Home directory. You can add any directory to favorites.
- enter / (or whatever path) in search-field sends you to the target directory
I tried pmusic 5.5.0 in Slacko 700 and it worked nicely . The change in the list order
worked.
I have a suggestion. The first time the middle-mouse click is used on the list
a warning message should be given. It just needs to given once.

Code: Select all
yaf-splash -placement top -close box -text "For your information:
A middle-mouse click deletes an item on the list, but leaves it on your disk."

Many of them don't even speak Linux, but they play Music with pMusic. . Cagoule is still using Wary..
My Slacko 64 provides 5.2.1 as pMusic version. Not a problem.

I don't think such a msg is necessary. I don't know any other music players that actually deletes files when removing the track from the playqueue, so pMusic's behavior should be logical in any way.
