Pidgin 2.51 by wolf_pup seems to work fine on the Live-CD
Will the final version have a later version of Wine installed?
With Firefox and Opera being updated frequently, can/should we
answer yes to the update question posed by those apps?

Muppy is spoiling me...I can actually be productive with it...and carry it
to various customer sites....THANKS!

fine, will be included.

Will the final version have a later version of Wine installed?
yes, the latest from Wolfpup.
His pets always worked fine, so I will risk to add the newest one without testing it.
With Firefox and Opera being updated frequently, can/should we
answer yes to the update question posed by those apps?
I just tried it with firefox, what went well.
But once I had not enough space in my savefile, what broke firefox.
I had to delete then:
/initrd/pup_rw/usr/lib/firefox
After enlarging the savefile and a reboot, I could upgrade.

I will add the latest Opera, and test before that, how the upgrade works.
Muppy is spoiling me...I can actually be productive with it...and carry it
to various customer sites....THANKS!
Great, and thanks for all feedback that helps to solve remaining issues.
The final version should be out in 1 1/2 weeks.

very minor niggles
The terminal button on the gtkbasic panel opens a terminal in
/usr/local/GtkBasic-Panel $HOME might be better

I tried out compiz but then couldn't find an easy option to get back to the default window manager settings.

Perhaps you can help me....I only use the LIVE-CD. I alway have a 2 gig pen drive with me. Is it possible to have two different sets of save files. ie, home and work?

If it is, what steps do I need to take to use Muppy that way?

Thanks...and looking forward to the finaol version.

Mark,

You asked in reference to evolution not opening in the Gnome desktop.
What do you get, if you type in a consolewindow: Code:
ls -al /usr/lib/libpisync*
Command response is: ls: cannot access /usr/lib/libpisync*: No such file or directory

Thanks again for your fine muppy distribution.

Jim,
please try to install this pet:
ftp://ks301128.kimsufi.com/Muppy0084/Be ... i486-2.pet

Please tell me, if that fixes evolution.

Mark,

No change, it won't run from the icon or from the terminal after installing pilot link.
# evolution
evolution: error while loading shared libraries: libbluetooth.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
#
Pilot link had a page full of missing dependencies.

Sorry this didn't help.

I wonder, why the included libs don't work for you.
Please look in /initrd/pup_ro3/usr/lib/ , if they are there (or _ro4 or _ro5).
If yes, then there is an eror in merging the layer of addons.sfs on your computer.
This would mean, that also other applications like firefox do not work.

How do you run Muppy?
As frugal installation?

Mark,

I'm sorry, I've wasted your time. Since you mentioned that the missing file is in the addons file, I downloaded your addons again, and now evolution works fine. Somehow, i must have corrupted the addons file. My installation is frugal.

Please forgive me.

no problem.
I'm glad, that it is solved for you, and that we don't have a new bug in Muppy :)
It is better to report more than less, sometimes it turns out to be a simple issue as in your case, but sometimes it also shows a severe bug I oversaw.

I've updated firefox, Opera, gstreamer, wine, ayttm, pidgin and more libs in the last 2 days here in my local testversion.
Close to the final version now, some more translating and tests, then in the end of the week it should be done.

I hope OpenOffice 3 final will be ready then.

This must be the biggest Puppy ever! Good luck to anyone who's got the system resources to run this one.

It runs fine on a Pentium 700 with 256 MB of Ram.

The base system (Mini) is just 150 MB, with Opera and Abiword.
So it is not much larger than a original Puppy :)

The rest is optional, so that you can avoid the hassle to search dependencies for often requested programs on your own.

Addons.sfs covers the most requested programs.
KDE and Gnome are just used by fans of these dektops, myself, I do not use them.

This is something I hadn't fully understood - thanks for clarifying, Mark. Wonder if anyone else mis-read your intentions? Might be worth spelling it out and modifying your sub-title to eg "with options to run under...etc" ??

Ditto Mark as to what Sage just wrote in his post as I, too, was under the impression as well that with Muppy 084 there was a "radical new change" and that everything needed downloading and adding to the system in order to run. I know that perhaps sounds like a silly misconception for an "Old Linux Salt" like me to have thought---and yet from the way the title was worded, and the way various items were written in the thread? This is how I came to understand it as well, somewhat like Sage.

So you don't know just how happy I was to have read that it's ONLY 150megs, then an "addons.sfs" for the software I want. Then if I want either KDE/Gnome I can download the appropriate .sfs file.

*PHEW!*

I think for starters I would like to try with YOUR top panel that you had (if it is still in there?) as I found that rather interesting! And while I did NOT like MintMenu when I had Mint---I really enjoyed the way your "MintMenu" performed and the rock-solid stability that it showed as it NEVER crashed on me. In Mint? It crashed all the time. -sigh-

Okie! So now I am greatly looking forward to 084 Mini-Sys with renewed interest here! ALRIGHT!!! :D

But I agree with Sage: You may wish to make this more clear to others?

A la prochaine fois mon frere!

UPDATE for beta2

I received a bugreport.
The hotpup settings did not work after my patches for Gnome, when you selected a different arrangement of the Desktop icons.

Install this pet to fix this:

ftp://ks301128.kimsufi.com/Muppy0084/Be ... hotpup.pet

Sage, Eyes only:
thanks for that suggestion, I will make this point clear for the final release next week.
