Puppy Not Work on HP3250 Laptop

I have tried several versions of Puppy (1.05, Chubby, Grafpup, and Pizza). Each caused the laptop to reboot. However, they work fine on my desktop PC. Why is that?

Hi.
I realized now that Puppy could not load vmlinuz. I checked out the isolinuz.cfg files and decided to experiment. At the boot prompt i typed

/vmlinuz append root=/dev/ram0 initrd=image.gz PFILE=pup101-none-262144

and press enter. Puppy loaded! All I had to add was the / slash next to vmlinuz. But it seems I will have to type the above string every time I run Puppy on my laptop. I tried to revised the Isolinuz.cfg on the CD but it is read only. Is there a boot disk I can create?

Also, my laptop modem is Xircom 56/100 pcmcia card. One of the linux distros i have can run this modem but not Puppy. I am not sure how to get this card to work. Any idea?
