Torrent client in the next version of puppy?

Puppy is a stable mini os running in a wide range of pcs. But from the official releases a torrent client is missing.
From my point of view "torrenting" is as much important as browsing. I believe that to include a version of ktorrent in a future release won't be that big a problem...

Ktorrent is dependant on kde and I'm sure it'll never be in the base ISO of Puppy. Ctorrent is in the base ISO and a simple gui frontend for it. There are plenty of extra dotpets if you need something more advanced, like Transmission or Rtorrent. Personally I love Rtorrent but the ncurses interface may scare people away.

Transmission works just fine, Plus puppy 4.0 dingo has pctorrent which works ok also, The minimum ktorrent would take is around 15MB for KDE libs Compressed pet package, I would rather see that used for for ummmm Gimp+Inkscape+VLC=17 MB minus inkscapelite

btw pctorrent and pcreatetorrent are both already in dingo
if there is an opera version (or puplet - such as Pupeez - there are several) you could use that instead since opera has torrent built in (amongst many other things)

I tried pctorrent today and didn't work, using dingo 4.0
I then tried Transmission, and it worked perfectly

But ktorrent is the most acceptable client from the private trackers...

moving along from puppy in my search for lightweight os that handles torrents well
segfaulting on transmission one version, another version works mostly but fails when clicking a link when it's already open, another version is a dead link on these forums (a very poor way to distribute software).. ugh
Plus this one really gets me, the package manager has an non-resizable window that doesn't even fit in 1024x768.. how frustrating must that be for new users on their old 800x600 hardware

You can move the package manager up by holding the 'alt' button down and move it with your mouse, and if you want a transmission that works, try this one

Also can we have a screen shot of what your the package manager looks like on your default screen size, So I can see if there is something I can do to fix it, before the final 4.2 is released. So please do it asap, I only have 1 day left to submit software/fixes for it.

this is indeed the case...ie transmission gets rejected by some trackers as does mldonkey but in the latter I could change it to be seen as azereus.
Funny how sites dealing with mainly pirate material get choosy about what client is used...hipocrasy I believe is the word.
I wonder if ctorrent/transmission can spoof or be hacked to do so.
By the way I found transmission to be a solid efficient client and soo tiny...

I know nothing about torrents and the fact that "pirates" use such makes me not keen on using them but the sad fact is that some linux devs only distribute using them.
I give you a very practical examples.
My neighbor needs a linux that talks Swedish on all menu and so on.
The best one available is this one.

Pctorrent does not let you select the ip address, it simply uses 0.0.0.0 which is fine if you have no firewall and you have only one interface. I have two interfaces and the second is the wifi. Pctorrent apparently will not find that address since I can never down load anything. So it would be a good idea to select the most configurable client with the smallest foot print and include that. Unfortunately, utorrent does not have alinux versiou cause I'm sure that would work as I have been using it for years.

But puppy is all about size Its a 200kb saving compressed, but what you should do is inform the developer of your needs and he might updated Pctorrent

According to the site/blog for pctorrent that is one of the things that he is working on. While I agree that size is important as a basic principal behind puppy - and I love it for that - the truth is that many of us need the flexibility of eth0 or eth1 when using laptops, etc.
I selected puppy, which I love BTW, because of it's small foot print, runs in ram, and ease of installation. I just do not have the $$ to buy new OS from Micro$oft every three years and then upgrade the hardware too!
So I'll try transmission and see how that works.
