I bought a new Motherboard yesterday, a Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L and spent most of the night tearing my hair out trying to get sound in Puppy 4.
Kubuntu worked fine and Alsaconf found the hardware but wouldn't play a sound, no matter what I tried.
Eventually I figured that all my time was worth £12.99 and bought a soundcard in Maplin Puppy worked first time.
I know it's a cop out, but there's more to life than sorting hardware problems all the time.
So for £212.99, I've got a new case, Mobo, 2Gb RAM, 360Gb SATA drive & Dual Core E2200 - surely not overkill for Puppy!!! (dual booted with Kubuntu for when I need CAD & Wine)
No sound on Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L mobo (Intel G31 chipset)
