I'm using Puppy 4.1beta, but I've had this problem for the entire Dingo series. Sounds works great on XP and in older versions of Puppy, but it's very choppy on Dingo.
I've tried all of the different alsa drivers, but the ess1938 is the only one I can get any sound out of.
I'm running Puppy on a Thinkpad 390X. It's got a P3 450MHz processor with 128Mb ram. There is a 360Mb swap partition on the hard drive.
Does someone know how I can fix this, or what the problem could be?

Choppy sound with Puppy 4.1beta
Hi
I'm not entirely sure, but I think in the alsa wizard there's a legacy setting, maybe isa, or sb16 [ or look for soundblaster 16 or ensoniq/ess solo]
I have an old IBM 560 that has ess solo, that was a bit choppy at first, but cleared after I messed about with the wizard, then.....
.....It just barked.....
good luck!
~don't forget the alsamixer - uncheck 'mute'
