PostPosted: Tue 06 Jan 2009, 16:35    Post subject: Need PET for Typing Tutor

Our children have "oddly" misplaced their MS-dependent Typing Tutor CD.

Rather than try to locate it or waste funds acquiring a replacement I'd really love to be able to use a typing tutor-type program that runs under Puppy.

Anyone have a .pet for that, please?

Welcome back Edoc. Hope you had a good holiday.

There are three typing programs I know of available for Pup.

Klavaro

Gtypist

And there's TuxType, but I can't find the post anymore. It's a dotpup so I'll see about uploading a pet.

torcs is completely unresponsive from MENU-FUN

torcs from Console generates this error:

Quote:
/usr/lib/torcs/torcs-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libglut.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Thanks Ttuuxxx, that'll save me some time Smile

@ Edoc

I'm sorry to be on your kids' unpopular list! Maybe I can make it up to them with Wormux, it seems to work great on Puppy 3.01, but I'll test it on 4 just to make sure, I don't want to waste your time, it's quite a hefty download.

Concerning Torcs, I'll boot up Pup 4 and see if I can reproduce your error.

@edoc,.....
a real quick "off topic" thing,....
thanks for your little website link! The "Weather Resorces" are terrific for central Florida!
(besides,...bad weather makes for good time with Puppy's games),....if there's no lightning, that is.

Hi Doc,

I tested Wormux on Puppy 4 and it worked great. I would have petted it, but the pet ended up larger than the original download. It works fine straight off so just extract it where ever you want and click wormux.sh to play.

Here's the link.

http://www.wormux.org/LastWormux-Linux

Be warned though, it's 57MB

Thanks! Just grabbed it & loaded it to the desktop - our daughter is trying to figure it out now - her Daddy is game-challenged. Rolling Eyes

No mention (at least from what I can see in this thread, sorry if I missed it,) of my favorite collection of Solitaire games, PySol and Pysol Fan Club Edition. There are pets for them.

Requires python. Thing is, I can't get the dotpup working in Boxpup, and I can't figure out how to get Pysol seeing python in Boxpup. Shame, since I love Boxpup so much.
