Minimal Mac-looking Puplet?

#1 Post by wosifat »

Does there exist a puplet with an OSX look (ie Macpup) that comes with minimal packages installed?

Edit - sorry, misread your post :(
I think Macpup is the only version specifically built to look like Puppy, and would have less extra packages than anything else that might have Mac-like themes. But I think it has Compiz - is that why you don't want it?
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

hi wosifat, hi disciple,

there seems to be 2 out there:

1 Macpup Dingo: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=30252

Code: Select all

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Macpup_Dingo_A - 95MB

- Based on Puppy Dingo
- Icewm Package (Extremely small package from Ttuuxxx)
- Wbar (Docker application)
- Modified Brushed Metal theme for ICEWM.
- Grub boot menu. (Message file from CatDude)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Macpup Foxy http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=33374

Code: Select all

About the name: Macpup + Firefox = Macpup Foxy !!!

Foxy has everything that makes Macpup so cool plus a bunch of extra stuff like, Gimp, Xvidcap,Picasa,Firefox with the Ifox metal theme,Java, Flash 10 beta (DONT WATCH YOUTUBE VIDS IN FULL SCREEN!!!) Audacity,Pawdio Converter,VCL ( by ttuuxxx!!!) Gxine and Xmms.

Extra games : Breakout,LinXtris,Xgalaga,ZaaaxxonRR

Flush-metal theme by ttuuxxx , Several macish backgrounds plus start up/shut down tunes!!!
It is ~ 200 megs but it seems to be 'closed' at the moment for reworking.

So Macpup Dingo would be the choice.

@wosifat
If you want it more minimal, you could try to adopt the changes made by prit1 to maybe skinnypup (http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=33301)

cheers
