No Audio - Puppy 4.1 and Dell Inspiron 1525

#1 Post by B2007527 »

I have everything working on my Dell inspiron 1525 and am booting from a 4gb USB pen drive with Puppy 4,1.

The only thing that wont work is the sound. I have used Alsa and tried to set up the HDA-Intel card. I follow the wizard with no error messages, but still no sound.

Any help would be welcomed.

You've made an excellent choice. My wife got a 1525 almost precisely two months ago and it's a really good notebook. If I had to buy one for myself right now, I'd go for the exact same model. I got a dell Inspiron 1525 Battery which can last more than 3 hours.

Try plugging in a head set, and see if it works.

Just my 2 cents worth.
If at first you don't succeed try try again!

Puppy 4.2 still has this issue.

Boots these Dell Vista enhanced???? crapbooks fine
but will not do Audio.

Any fixes please as I'll probably get the twin of
this to work on soon.

I have same problem, but............
I "Black-Listed" my "snd_mixer_oss" Driver and now my Headphones Work!

Now if I can just get my Speakers to work.

Puppy Setup > configure Startup of Puppy > Click here to Black List a Module > Find "snd_mixer_oss" in the Left Window, click on it and click Add to Right Menu, then Reboot.
