I have noticed a couple of things . . .
JWM -now when you restart keeps your old programs remain on screen
Good!
I also like the JWM XP colour scheme. The background can be changed - someone has suggested a page of backgrounds and maybe puptrix.org or someone will feature such a thumbnailed possibility . . . I quite liked the weird colours . . .
Ticker seems to be working better on ADSL- there was a strange black mark on the Ticker selection box - if you click and stretch it you can go through the news items . . . so this is there but needs developing but it works on ADSL - so good news
One of the first things I did was changed my preferences in Mozilla fonts to
sans serif. I find serif fonts unsuitable for reading on screen. The arial font that MS created is designed for reading on screen and it is to me much clearer
For me it was nice to get xine working again (I had OD on experimental multimedia .pups - not Puppys fault). I installed the extra media codecs from pupget and immediately went to
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/c ... efault.stm
and was pleased to watch a section on open source . . .
Wonderful!
My bookmarks I store on line
http://del.icio.us/cructacean
My careful efforts to save my email adresses on hard disk (from sylpheed) failed - I had just copied the whole of the sylpheed programs on to a directory on my HD but obviously made a mistake
- however I have my old pup001 (renamed) and can still access this
I have never got used to ANY on line mail service such as gmail - but I do use them . . . too slow and ponderous
Here is a project - anyone up for it? Save email and adress book from sylpheed on well the usual things - m m m . . . maybe it is time to use Multisession?
As usual this is a great Puppy - please set up and use bit-torrents and if iblio is slow - it was for me - use the Dutch I think it is mirror.
I downloaded 3 Pupgets (which I always use immediately - fvwm95 - just call me old fashioned - Gimp - everyone needs a gimp (so I heard) and the extra realplayer and other codecs) - Ready to RUMBLE!
I was making excessive use of MUT and the system seemed to slow down (this always freaks me - not sure why this happened) So I refreshed JWM and it took an age - so refreshed into fvwm95 - where I am now. I have been using Flock Browser for a couple of weeks - so it is nice to be back in mozilla - will see if I miss flock . . . (that is the test . . .)
Also I have been using NVU but used composer (built into Puppy mozilla) to update a link and used Puppys FTP to easily update the HTML file.
Who said "Puppy it just works!" - ain't it the truth!
Be interested to hear how others are getting on with this great new Puppy . . . How are you getting on?
