@jtouso
Hi,
you can close a terminal window by typing 'exit'.
BTW, is there a special reason for you to use unetbootin? I never tried, because the Puppy Installer works fine for me.
Greetings
Rolf

Unetbootin because I don´t have cd/dvd. I use the usb-pen to boot from it. It works ok with other linux distros (xandros xepc, elive, easypeasy...) in my Asus EeePc 901
I know I can type "exit" but the problem is can´t use the upper bar to copy/move/find...etc. Why I loose the upper bar?
Why F9 don´t work?

@ max headroom
It's big because of the drivers; I haven't cut anything out yet, because I want to see if it works BEFORE I stuff around with it. THis will change in Ripple's next release. I'm aiming for 130Mb.
@jtouso
That figures. Which brings us back to the first question... has anyone running puppy got Compiz-fusion running with the atom chipsets? Lets see if we can get other hardware working first, then see about these cards. Basically, you can't run compiz-fusion with Ripple on your 901, which is why f9, and everythign else isn't working yet. We'll get there.
@rhadon
Thanks for you help! I'll figure out something for you to do soon... lets see the response we get from these scripts, and I'll get back to you.

there is a difficulty in determining what graphics card is actually in an unknown computer. else it would be easier to test ripple in icafes or showrooms.

Hadn't thought of that... only thing I could suggest would be to try Ripple in places where the graphics card is already known, am aware this will limit possibilities though. Show rooms usually tell you what the system you're using is, or you can always ask. The difficulty is doing it without being noticed... Had a few interesting expereiences in officeworks here in Australia not long ago... most people don't realize you can boot into another operating system like Ripple, and most wouldn't know what they were seeing if they caught you... my line was always going to be : "But I need to see if it supports booting off of my usb before buying this!" Not sure if it would have flown, but I never had to find out... let me know how you folks go...

Special Agent Max Headroom Briefly Reporting Ripple .6.5 is a Suckses
First Thanx Dinky, TomBH, & Co. First Demo was on a Toshiba Satyrlite A10, 2 GHz Celeron, 512 MB RAMemory, intel Graphics impressive 'tho' things Work differently from what I'm used to, then the Real Test was on Max Headroom, Me HyperThreading 3 GHz Pentium 4 w/ NVidia FX5200 AGP Card, there were 'xtra Widgets that didn't appear on the Laptop?!? I Really oughta Play w/ this more... but so far no problems otherwise. Also I note this is built on 4.1.1 will future releases be on 4.1.2 or perhaps 4.2 Deep Thought since it's being Developed roughly in tandem w/ Ripple? Also I wunder if we haven't scene the last of TomBH since Barry is building Debian as an option into Woof for Puppy Building ( it's been touted as Puppy 5 series ).

Beautiful! Hats off to special agent Max!!! May your headroom forever fly and be... well... big.
Ripple is in 4.1.1 only because I haven't made another build yet, but will be rebuilt from unleashed with whatever is in season, currently 4.1.2. I've been wanting to base it on Deep Thought, assuming a stable release comes out sometime soon.
Actually though, what really excites me right now is Barry's project woof. made a build with it last night (default Ubuntu Build), and played around with installing Ubuntu binaries. It works! Had to extract the files from the package (was using thunderbird) and create a pet from them, but the point is the binaries match, and it's the beginning of a truly awesome project. So imagine Ripple with all the flexibility of Ubuntu, being able to search, and use, any package made from Ubuntu by default... it's not that far away.
I'm mentioning Ubuntu because that's the other system I currently use, however this could work for Debian, Slackware, whatever. It seems when most software writers make mthier programs compatible with linux, it tends to mean a Ubuntu package, as that's one of the most popular distros at the moment... would be great to be able to tap into that. So here's one convert on the way to woof... I look forward to seeing where it goes.
If anyone else is able to test Ripple, let us know what you find!

Hi dinky,
on EeePc900: Ripple_6-5 works like 6-3. Had to install the snd.pet from tempestuous again (pet2tgz) and same problem with Skype. As expected.
On Gericom notebook with ATI: 6-5 seems to work like 6-3 before. FGLRX-driver doesn't work, Radeon-driver works. Before testing more, I have to solve another problem I got with my Wlan. With Ripple_6-3 it worked a long time without any problem. Now it doesn't. It also will not work with 6-5. I installed 6-5 on a new partition, so there shouldn't be any interference. With Puppy 4.1.2 it works well. Very strange.
I come back if I'm wiser.
Cheers
Rolf

Thanks Rolf. I wonder what the problem with the wireless is? 06-5 is simply a remaster of 06-2, so apart from the added drivers and rewriten cfwizard there should be no issue. Wonder if something mucked up in the remaster. Wireless is working fine for me on the eeepc 701, though I have had to tell it what to find on bootup a couple times... the wireless network wizard has always been slightly buggy, so I haven't been too concerned. I'll replace it with the most recent one for next release anyway.
Can you get back to me again about the graphics cards? When you use the radeon driver, does it work? Are you getting black boxes? Do you have compiz effects? Can't remember your previous postings, though assume it's not working perfectly as it should... Cheers mate, and thanks again for your input.

Hi dinky,
Ripple works fine with radeon driver. No matter 6-3 or 6-5. Also CF works fine. Also Skype. The only problem is a black vertical line near the middle of the screen, but as I posted, it's not a problem of Ripple or CF, I have this issue since Puppy 4.00. With Puppy 3.01 it works well.
Wlan works now with Rippel_6-5
Don't know what was wrong. Today I started Ripple_6-5, configured Wlan and it worked without any problem! Maybe 6-3 crashed and rebooting didn't solve the problem when I started 6-3 again or 6-5? Will try to find out.
Rolf

Any try with Atom?
As you know, with my Asus EeePc 901 -Atom Intel N270 CPU, clocked at 1.6GHz and graphic chipset 945GC, Ripple don´t have Compiz and also don´t have other utilities.
