Hi,

You will have a symbolic link pointing to Xfbdev or so.

Check that:
cd /usr/X11R6/bin/
ls -al X*

If my suggestion is correct, try this:
rm -f /usr/X11R6/bin/X
ln -s /usr/X11R6/bin/Xvesa /usr/X11R6/bin/X

Then the vesa-driver should work again.

In the board we had several people reporting the i810-chipset works very well with the x.org-Xserver: http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic.php?t=2303
The fbdev-driver you have in Pupget just seems to work on some Graficscards with that chip.
