PUPPYLINK qtel and svxlink puppy |
|
I have built an iso which is 4.1-based and named it PuppyLink 0.0.1
The iso presently resides in /root/ftp on this Puppy 4.1 which is behind the fw of 218.214.165.110.
See the thread "how to get qtlib dependent stuff to compile"
cheers

PuppyLink Sub_title: Love the little fellow |

I am new to Linux, looking for a OS to use with a digipeter and Qtel for Echolink.
I was wondering if you could make a package for me to put in to the Puppy I have loaded already?

Hi
I'm not very good at making packages yet.
Do you mean a "pet" that does QTEL? Yes its on my ToDo list but may be a way off yet. I need to learn more about package-making.
Are you talking about a ax25 digipeater?
I've got a ax25 puppy planned but thats very early days too.

PuppyLink ax25 |

I am not sure exactly what programs the digi needs, I am still working with cutecom trying to get a working connection to the kam3.
I know in windows, or Dos I would use Hyper Terminal, or Pacterm (DOS).
the computer I am using is a little older, and I am not sure the com ports are working.... so it is a work in progress for me to learn Linux, and digipeter (lol, decided to take on both projects at once).
Part of the fun so far it learning the new system, and finding software to fit the applications I want to apply it to.
A Qtel and Syslink "add-on" would be great for HAMs converting to Linux
I applaud you on your effort and contribution to the HAMs of Linux
73's
what I have in mind, is a puppy that does ax25 and Qtel, or "pet" packages that could be added to an existing puppy or a puppy with syslink and Qtel ( I dont think one computer and radio could do digi and syslink)

The important things for successful linux ax25 are all the ax25 kernel modules compiled, and the soundmodem, ax25-tools and ax25-apps packages.
I dunno much about Kam3 but take a look at the man page for kissattach.
My feeling is that the real power of puppy is realised when things are kept compact and simple.
one disk for all might not be that good unless we get rid of a lotta non-ham stuff like mozilla etc etc. so it all loads in ram.
packaging them looks the go. I better start reading the "creating packages" page........

qtel , Echolink client for Ham Radio Operators running Puppy Sub_title: Is ther a running QTEL .PET package that can be downloaded for 4.2 or 4.3 or DPUP |
|
Hello All and that one and only FUN guy VK6FUN Pete! 3 cheers for Pete.
I am working to get all the source libs and compile QTEL for myself, but wanted to check out first to see if Qtel client .PET package exists for a download.
I read that Qtel should be compiled with QT 3.3.8 or QT 3.3.6 version.libraries. Is that still a good idea?. Will the 4-26-2009 version of qtel compile with version 4.6.0 from James Live.com web site.

a 39 Megabyte Download.

ps, comments and bug fixes welcomed. I try not to reinvent the Wheel!
pss. The Earthquake in Haiti is a good example of why we practice FIELD DAY out in the wild with generators. Check equipment to be operational, to practice operating under difficult conditions. I listened on Haiti Earthquake net, here at http://live.wx5fwd.net/status.xsl
Hams around the world are waiting to pass Health and Welfare traffic into Haiti, but not one Ham tonight is on the end of Amateur Radio inside Haiti near Port-au_prince to receive traffic (except for a news article of one Ham operational part of the day) It is just like a dropped handset line on a telephone, no one to talk to on the other end.
I pray for the People of Haitis health today January 15, 2010.
I am hoping get QTEL compiled and operational. I think Puppy Linux would be an asset to pass traffic inside Haitin when the internet becomes available weeks or months from now. I did want to make USB bootable FLASH disk drive with Dpup 484Beta3 to give to http://www.mercycorp.org here in Portland to send into Haiti. QTEL operational on Puppy Linux would be very useful for any volunteer who is also a licensed HAM radio Operator
helping out in Haiti.
I like that Fact the PSIP works under puppy Linux, thought with phone lines
down that would be useful to two PCs running WIreless internet using Cantenna antenna (or some directional antenna) between themselves at distance of a few kilometer.. A very inexpensive telephone, when you don't have a radio available. When internet is available then you have the means for a simple call back to the US or Brazil or anywhere around the world.
But that is off until the months or years to get electricity ( or a generator back on) powering a computer or a netbook with solar power.
http://home.kendra.com/auto A temporary place for my practical ideas.on using PuppyLinux from a Flash Drive inside Haiti.
Is your disk image still available VK6FUN

PUPPYLINK qtel and svxlink puppy Sub_title: CD-rom was OK |
|
Tried again this morning ... and my iso worked ... very nice!!
Now, my next issue is to get the sound card on my desktop to talk to the program. Used the soundcard wizard ... and the doggy barked on request. Not sure what to enter on the line in qtel configuration... Is it alsa: default? hw:(0.0)? or something else???
Does anybody have the idea to put me out of my misery???
