KDE 443f
Hi gatliffe,
Welcome to puppy and to Lighthouse which is the absolute best implementation of KDE using puppy.
When you downloaded the new base 443F, you also needed to download two additional sfs files Mariner SFS, version 4F and KDE SFS version 4.3.3F from here. These sfs files must be placed in the /mnt/home directory.
NOTE: The following procedure assumes a frugal installation. Should you have a full hd installation, it will not work, so stop and please post your information about your hardware and installation to the regular Lighthouse thread.
1. Using the default jwm Menu, select System, BootManager configure bootup which will start the BootManager. In the BootManager click on the button to the right of "Choose which extra SFS files to load at bootup" and then move the above sfs files over to the right window.
2. Press OK and reboot your system.
3. On the default jwm Menu, select Shutdown, Change Window Manager, and then the KDE options should appear. Upon selection of a WM, X will restart in the new WM.
Enjoy, your new KDE, and please don't start your own thread about problems with a puppy, use the thread that's already started.
Jim
