Other than a vanilla kernel, what's the difference between this and G-Pup?

G_Pup has SMP enabled, this one does not.

This is a cut down Puppy (no browser) for using as a base for your preferred programs. Think of it as a building on block.

Thanks for creating so promptly wolfpup. Who uses the Barebones as a base? What do you add?

Looks good!

I downloaded it and ran it in QEMU - everything looks great. I had planned on doing this myself, so thank you for saving me the effort!

So what's SMP?

"Symmetric MultiProcessing" AKA Multi-Core, Multi-CPU, Hyper-Threading. :)

What link is defective?

Hi Caneri,

I am using Opera 9.63.
"http://puppylinux.asia/tpp/bugs/ISO/Pup ... ebones.iso" opens a new tab . At the top of the webpage it reads "URCE. SEE PUBLISHER IDENTIFIER IN PRIMARY VOLUME DESCRIPTOR FOR CONTACT INFORMATION." --and it continues to download into the webpage.

Could that be the .iso downloading into the webpage?
The "md5" link opens a new tab as well giving the md5 as expected.

Other links at http://puppylinux.asia/tpp/bugs offer a GUI for downloading
and work correctly for me.

Hi Puppy Dog,

I'm not sure why you are having a problem as puppylinux.asia should have mime types working correctly.

Maybe right click and save as..or what ever Opera uses to save the iso to your computer. The info you speak of (URCE. SEE PUBLISHER IDENTIFIER IN PRIMARY VOLUME DESCRIPTOR FOR CONTACT INFORMATION.) may be a file name issue as I had to rename this puplet to directory1.iso get it to run the md5sum check...hmmm

I'll check to be sure, but as far as I know puppylinux.asia works ok...I'm still having problems with mime types on the new puppylinux.ca...grrr. Funny thing is mime types are quite easy to setup...but cpanel does things differently it seems...grr again.

I have successfully booted this iso so it is correct on both servers.

Eric

Sorry to report, but the package manager does not work - I select the Internet button and it does not respond. Scrolling down is also not working.

EDIT: Must be a problem associated with the small screen of nettop (800x480).

Hi raffy,
I just downloaded mtpaint-3.21 bitmap editor
from ibiblio.org using the PETget package manager.

Could you have a bad burn?

I first installed locally(not using the PETget
package manager)Firefox-3.0.3.pet and upgraded
to 3.0.5. I do not know if that matters.

First, Thank you so much for making a Bare Bones version of Puppy 4.1.2 .

Is there any chance you are going to do a Bare Bones 4.1.2 Retro version?

I'm enjoying this derivative since getting the nVidia 173 driver installed got rid of the crashes. I even have Firefox 3 running with no difficulties.

But I can't get any additional partitions mounted at boot. I'm using the same fstab and rc.local approach that worked in other derivatives. Is there something special needed for this one?
