Videopup 2 codename: Diabolo multimedia

#1 Post by papos »

Diabolo
After videopup
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=27611
who was my first release to create my movies,
I have released videopup2 codename Diabolo
I have tested it, so I add only programs who works for me
I am uploading it as a courtesy for those with similar needs of multimedia expression.
This is a beta release:
252 Mb md5:4050489b67c196a1d8e904ececc5adcd Diabolo412b.iso
comes with complete Puppy Linux 4.1.2
need +384 meg of ram
I have put the translation of the programs for en, fr, it, es, de (simple to change, just click on the right flag)
plus
Celtx 1.0:
qdvdauthor-1.6.1 (Thinks to remove the last underscore then selecting directory in new project)
Kino -1.3.2 : Works well (now import jpeg for diaporama)
Avidemux 2.4.3:
Gimp 2.6
Blender 2.48:
Java-1.6u7
Wine 1.1.4
Streamtuner
Mplayer: well dvd player
xplns
Firepup by default
and some tools and optimisation

Special thanks to the hardworkers.
Barry Kauler, the creator of Puppy Linux
Mu Mark: for buildsystem and a lot of tools
ttuuxxx: for all its conributions
Jean jacque Moulinier for french translation.
and all the contributors ...

Tips: it's simple to create two pup_save-blank.2fs save file (just rename a file like this pup_save-blankB.2fs) like this you can choose 0 at bootup to have a new fully fonctional version file that you can backup (set your temp files for kino on you large drive).
good creation.

I include in the cd only generic open source video drivers fully compatible with all cards.
You can install proprietary drivers for ati and nvidia
but I experiment some bug with french keymap
Marc make a lot of work with ati and nvidia propriatery drivers
for ati look at
Puppy 4.12 Ati-Catalyst 8.12 graficsdriver
and ati drivers
and Ati and Nvidia bugfix for Puppy
now I am most intersted for the next release by new open source ATI radeon drivers
Good test

I realise that the import script for *.jpeg and other format use mencoder by default and don't work well with mencoder (jpeg Ogg Theora)
sory in this release I have include mencoder!
You have the option to simply rename mencoder in /usr/local/bin to mencoder.bin

Or install this pet who fix just media.sh in /usr/share/kino/scripts/import/media.sh
Bon diaporama

Hello, papos.

It's been about 6months since you released the beta version. The link leads me to still the beta version.

I think you should release the final version by now. Update means "final"? I am kind of confused.

Any newer versions?

yes it's the delta filles, after beta-a b c ...z with a lot of bugfix,
I spring up to delta the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet, it seems to be like In astronomy the declination point of this version who is now perfect for my use of creating multimedia,
good creation.

Keyboard Map Change

#14 Post by Hugh »

Papos,

Many thanks for making the full size .iso
available!!

PWSGET picked right up where it left off
when I began the download in December
of last year. Now I've got the full file and
am ready to 'burn and run!'
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Booted Diabolo for live session (pfix=ram)
for test: Ran Keyboard Wizard to setup
US qwerty (US.map) and all went well
with the wizard accepting and storing
the change. Opened LeafPad to create
test document to verify new keyboard map
and discovered that nothing had actually
changed; the default keyboard map was
still in effect. Re-started 'xwin' to see if that
would make a difference and it did not.

Clicked the language change icon on the
desktop to change to US-en and that worked
very well.

So, if anyone could assist in getting the keyboard
map change to work I'd be very grateful. All
suggestions will be happily received.

The suite of programs in Diabolo is impressive
and I'd very much like to continue testing. Looks
like it could be a very useful derivative for sure.

What other languages does Diablo speak?

I hope Korean is included.

natively the menu are in english and the applications are in en, fr, de ,it ,es . While I have only some notion on this langage.
like diabolo 4.12 is based on you can add all the translation for puppy 4.12

Translating puppy is a community effort you are encouraged to help.
