Puppy 3.02CE Alpha 5 "Stardrop"

#1 Post by J-Bob »

I finally got the first alpha for my developments finished,

This should finally work with networking and Xorg is fixed

It is about 75MB and you would probably want to use lassie and boxer modules for this

You can download the ISO, and when i upload modules, modules and ISO below
http://puppylinux.asia/members/bobpup/puppy-302CE/

if anyone wants to join the puppy 3.02CE project, just pm me of the area you wish to work in.

even if you are not as well known as others, and have not been here too long, if you feel that you might be able to do the job, just post below.

#The poll system is quite buggy, i'll probably just add in seamonkey for the time being. or no browser, and give people the option downloading their favorite browser when they get 3.02CE

new news, my network card does not seem to like puppy 3.02.

so until i get a new card to work with, development is delayed on my part. people who are members can still work though.

I'm self-appointing myself as the coordinator.
Well, volunteers are always welcome, and it's good you included Tronkel as the adviser.

As to your last post, perhaps you mean 3.02CE alpha1 release?

I wanted to contribute, but the wiki does not seem to want me to edit it.
Since you edited it last Lobster. Then it might be good for you to have a go with it.

I just downloaded the ISO. If I can find my spare CD-RW, I'll burn it to it and run. Alternatively, I'll just use the sfs off it on one of my USB installs. ;)

Alpha 8 i imagine. I'm currently constructing a new Puppy 3.02CE Alpha 9, but it's based off Alpha 3 with updates. Once i get it to being usable, i have plans to upload it.

Hopefully it will work on my laptop, as it may have been the lzma compression on 4.1 that made it non-compatible with the production machine.

I'll soon find out.

ok. I can't find my CD, so... I'm just going to extract the .iso and replace the key files on my USB flash drive to get it up and running. I love being able to do that. :D

I'm building an iso with the current linux kernel for puppy (2.6.25.16)
this hopefully will work better than my two previous prototypes.

i plan to work on fixing up some components, adding seamonkey 2 alpha, and hopefully upload Puppy Linux 3.02CE Alpha 4.

and @Evil20071
I agree with you on that Jon. extracting iso files from within rox is one of the cool features of puppy linux.

First issue: No internet. What directory are the in-built networking drivers/firmware stored at? I'd say since the ones in 4.1.2 work, use those for it. I'll give it a try if you can tell me where to look for them.

i noticed problems with the networking on alpha 8. that was one of the biggest problems i found. That's why i'm building off of puppy 3.02 alpha 3 unleashed.

i suggest you wait for it to come out.

but if you want the 4.1.2 drivers and firmwares. you would need it's kernel too, and you would need the unleashed for it.

my suggestion would be to follow my first one.

but if you really need to know, the drivers are usually held in the /lib/ folder. And are usually on the zdrv sfs file.

and i also realized, when i began with puppy one year ago i had no idea how puppy worked, i was just exploring it then.

and now i have the skills to be able to coordinate an entire community release. guess that's what happens if your are an autistic with good computer skills.

Just curious to see if I can make it work on my end. I like to experiment like that. Wouldn't be the first time I tried something that shouldn't work. I'll let you know what happens. ;)

And Survey says: Not directly.

Was willing to try it because the NDISwrapper won't work either, which is strange. Any idea how to get around that?
