Came across this and tried to include all dependencies and trim most of the fat. Compiled in Saluki but also works in Wary and Racy. Also now added Slacko 5.3.3 version.
Version 2.4.3 released 16th June 2012

Not something I know much about, lots of bells and whistles, buttons bring up windows with even more buttons, makes all sorts of sounds and I can play a merry tune on my keyboard. Anyone tell me if it is working as it should?

The "banks" and "examples" with all sorts of instruments and effects combinations and the empty "presets" directory are located in /usr/share/zynaddsubfx so you may wish to set that path as default in the settings window and load them from there.

interesting app.
On Slacko it need libglu and libgl, which I got from
http://puppylinuxstuff.meownplanet.net/Scim/
and
http://code.google.com/p/mywolfe/downlo ... t&can=2&q=
in this one had to move libs from i686 into /usr/lib/
then I got the GUI up, but no sound after loading instrument.
any tips?

I have compiled a version in Slacko 5.3.3 which I have added to the first post, you may wish to try that.
There are so many knobs and dials and buttons and faders on it, but even without a midi keyboard you can just click the mouse on the virtual keyboard in the gui and then the qwerty keys will play notes.
This version also opens the "controller" and "splitter" external program windows when you launch it
