PortableApps in Puppy Linux

#1 Post by cthisbear »

" Puppy Linux can be installed on your USB stick. So can PortableApps, a collection of cross platform open source software that can run on Windows. Interestingly, nearly all of the apps also run perfectly in wine, except for a few issues. So, I got an idea. Why not try and integrate the two. "

Nice trick but, If you can boot your puppy, which of the portable apps would you need to use?
Just in the off chance that you may know, does nokiaPCsuite work in wine?

It's not really so much about need. It's about trying to provide a consistent interface/programs in puppy. If some people have PortableApps on their usb stick anyway, and near;y all of the programs work perfectly in wine, why not?

The script is tiny and will only run if Portableapps is already there. 8MB isn't that much to download and store these days.

Wolf Pup has been posting here about wine and recently about g-pup, a barebones Pupy 4.1.2. If you combine the two, then you have a portableapps ready Puppy. See g-pup:
