Hi. I've made a simple script that will check if a user has PortableApps installed in /mnt/home, and then if they do offer to automatically download and install wine so that PortableApps can be run.

There have been other discussions about the idea in the suggestions section.

Just to clear up any confusion, PortableApps is open source software for Windows, installed on a usb stick (ordinary FAT32 partition) in Windows. The USB stick can also house Puppy. Most of the applications in the PortableApps Suite run flawlessly in wine. see here:

This would integrate two open source products, and give people that already use PortableApps a consistent set of programs across OSes.

I rather like this idea Smile

It makes incredible sense
boot into Windows (a legacy operating system) and run the excellent portable apps
boot from USB into an operating system (PuppyXP) Linux and run the same apps Rolling Eyes
