JWM 1.0 released today!

#1 Post by rarsa »

Joe released JWM 1.0 today!

It is still as small as before. I've just compiled it and after striping and upx'ing it's less than 60Kb.

The new configuration file is not backward compatible. I will post a dotpup as soon as I figure the configuration out.

On the brightest side for me: It includes the functionality required to generate the menus automatically!

I've just tested with the xdg menu generator! :)

Some time ago I read about Enlightenment 0.17:
"Different to bloated KDE it is fast and lightweight".

Well, the .tgz I created from CVS also was "60", but 60 Mb

So different can be the points of view ;)

JWM is really astonishing, i hope the bug with positioning windows (Gtk and FOX) could be fixed or will be soon.

JWM is now at version 1.0! This version has many changes and the configuration file for v0.24 or earlier will not work with this version. Notable changes include the ability to use PNG icons and XFT for true type and antialiased fonts (both can be disabled at compile-time). Also, it is now possible to split up the tray and swallow applications into the tray.
For a more complete list of changes, see the history.

If you look at Barrys news - true type font support has been upgraded for Puppy "Tardis" 107

It still has some rough edges to be prime time. Joe is working out the bugs.

The main one is some bad behaviour when doing a non destructive restart.
