openvpn, openssl update

#1 Post by friendofjane »

At last I succed to install recent versions of openvpn and openssl.

To use my VPN provider I have to use a recent version of the two programs, but I didn't find them in my repositories. My installed openssl & openvpn were to old versions to establish a connection and my repositories didn't provide recent versions. I abandoned looking for a solution. (I should have ask here for advice...)

Now I started a new try and I get it work.

I took openssl-1.0.1p-i486-1_slack14.0.txz and openvpn-2.3.6-i486-1_slack14.0.txz which installed without a problem.

I coudn't uninstall the old version of openssl (which is a part of the puppy system), but calling the program in a terminal launched the new version of it.

Now it works like a charm:

openvpn --config vpn-configfile.conf

Perhaps it is helpful for somebody.
Distro: Ubuntu Tahr 64 6.0.5 on usb stick
