Bluefish - HTML editor

Version: 1.07
Bluefish is a powerful editor targeted towards programmers and webdesigners, with many options to write websites, scripts and programming code. Bluefish supports many programming and markup languages, and it focuses on editing dynamic and interactive websites.
I've patched this a little, so that it uses mozilla as its default for opening in a browser.

As WhoDo maybe wants to include Bluefish in 4.2 there are two versions of the base package:

- bluefish-U-1.0.7.pet (upx'ed)
- bluefish-1.0.7.pet (not upx'ed)

If you want to install this within your puppy (without remastering), use the upx'ed (packed) version. If you want to include it into a remaster, maybe try bluefish-U-1.0.7.pet (not packed).

The 2 packages only include a function reference for html. if you need more (css, php, python) install the additional package.

cheers

I compiled it too (before finding this post actually...) in Wary 5.1.1 with

Code: Select all

--disable-nls --disable-spell-check

"SOLVED" Not so fast! EDIT

EDIT 2: This is really a neat program - I was very impressed at first with the simultaneous split screen wysiwyg and code views, convenient tools, etc., but there are bugs in the wysywyg display that one notices after using it a bit. So maybe not :-(
I have been coding html for 15 years with a text editor, and Bluefish 2 is one of the best. Are there any comments on the new split view in 2.0.3 ? Any suggestions for getting it working in QNop 1.2?

EDIT 1: I gave up on updating Bluefish and have adopted a superior and wysiwyg html editor - Amaya-11.3.1-i386.pet. (Much better than earlier Amayas!)

Get it from

Code: Select all

http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/quirky/pet_packages-wary5/
I have a frugal installation of quirky Nop 1.2. I moved /root/.amaya and /user/lib/Amaya ouside the save file and symlinked back.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,

I happily use Bluefish- 2.0.0 in QuirkyNop 1.2 daily to maintain my websites. Nothing to complain about. But 2.0.3 sounds interesting. Have tried it several times, but get this in terminal:

# bluefish
bluefish: symbol lookup error: bluefish: undefined symbol: g_malloc_n
#

What does this mean? Do I need python? What level of gtk? Is it worth it?

Thanks!

Bluefish 2.2.6, compiled on Precise 571, should work on other precise.

Live:

I had some serious issues with the Bluefish 2.2.6 you provided using it on Fluxpup with a fairly new Dell. It seemed to do something to the MIME formats, creating a bunch of cogs where normal file thumbnails would be. Luckily, I was running a Live version so a shutdown and restart fixed the problem.

Installing the older version of Bluefish (1.0.7) from the top of this thread worked well.

I wish that I could provide you with more information but I don't really have any. I was creating an xhtml and blammo, pow, boom.

Best,

Slavvo

I've been heavily using Bluefish-2.2.2 since it appeared, and it is very fine. Naturally I jumped to try an even newer one, but dropped it like a hot potato. In my PreciseNop-5.4.3 it was unusable. Sorry I'm not a developer, and am probably overlooking some things. Wasn't going to say anything, until I saw Slavvo's note. See the attached build info for 2.2.2, ptobably a better starting point.

Hi Henry:

Do you have a package for 2.22 or know if it's in a repository?

Thanks,

Slavvo

Sorry I don't remember, but this is what I have now. I think it it is basically the (Ubuntu) Package: bluefish (2.2.2-1) [universe]
