Python is a programming language like perl or ruby and it can be installed from the puppy package manager.

I went to http://portablelinuxapps.org/network/dropbox and downloaded Dropbox 1.1.43. Then I right clicked, chose Permissions and made executable. Then I made a shortcut on the Desktop which I can click when I want to use Dropbox.sfeeley wrote:Can you explain or link to your other method? It would be nice to have different dropbox options all on this thread.I have now got Dropbox working by a different method and download so not an urgent problem.
Please excuse my non-geek approach but I am just an ordinary consumer new to Puppy after 30 odd years of Windows!
I use pretty much the same system most of the time except I make the link to /root/Startup, that way dropbox starts at boot and runs in the background all the time.DL62 wrote:I went to http://portablelinuxapps.org/network/dropbox and downloaded Dropbox 1.1.43. As suggested, I got the portableapp of dropbox http://portablelinuxapps.org/network/dropbox

But dropbox isn't starting automatically when I boot. It will only run if I click the dropbox file (or its link that I put in /root/startup)I use pretty much the same system most of the time except I make the link to /root/Startup, that way dropbox starts at boot and runs in the background all the time.

that just links back to the second page where the .7.0 pet is. I don't know if it will work in Slacko though.

I didn't want to bother with Python (I'd already installed far too many things trying to get Unison syncing between different operating systems, and had gotten to the point of hating computers again), but I had success with the dropbox PET from this thread http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=608613
