I think you have misunderstood the rationale behind alpha releases. They are first steps at integration of a number of separate strands of work. They are not intended to be 100% functional. It is not whodos responsibility to fix all the bugs. For other people to fix the bugs they need to see them, that is why it is important to make regular releases at the alpha stage.
If you are testing alpha puppy releases you really should expect things to be broken and there is not much point in bothering to test unless you are able to roll your sleeves up and fix something or you have a particular test scenario that no-one else is able execute.
