Everything runs great and fast, but when I go to shutdown, it asks me like normal "Do you want to save your files on a CD?" Yes/No
I hit Yes, and a # (console) appears right in the middle of the Y, and I keep on pressing enter, and it scrolls downword, never doing the action I requested.

This happens to me when I change window managers twice.
its an odd bug. i type reboot or halt and it will sometimes be ok.

Yep, it's a mysterious bug. I know about it, but haven't got a clue what
causes it.
It would be good to narrow it down to the exact events that cause it to happen.

I think when it happened to me, I did manage to recover, but I don't recall how.
When you get that "#", I typed "xwin" and X started up okay.
...but I don't recall how I got it to save.

it's an occasional bug.
Easiest thing is just to hit the reset button on the PC.

So basicly, it's impossable to install another Windows Manager on it?
Since you would have to end up switching WM, and that wouldn't allow you to save?

Ok, this is a wierd bug but It rearly effects outcomes. I have only noticed when you switch window manager once it hardly ever happens, but if I switch to and then from JWM -> ICEWM -> KDE (changed twice) = most likely
JWM -> ICEWM (only changed once) not likely.
What I do is boot change to new WM reboot save to multi-session, after reboot your good to go!.
If I had to guess a tee is involved some where, or it is the memory checking deamon script is causing it.

I would test this bug some more, but sadly, puppy does not play nice with my wireless mouse.
(But it works PERFECTLY with the keyboard.)
Think anyone could help me with that?

Now that I read this thread carefully, it seems that it describes what happened to me when I installed the OpenOffice Pupget in my multisession 106 DVD(+RW).

I don't remember what happened when I followed the instructions on the screen and restarted the window manager after installing the OpenOffice Pupget. I guess it worked OK, but later, when I attempted to shut down the computer the #_ prompt appeared in a small black window in the "Save to DVD yes/no" dialog window. Luckily typing "xwin" got the desktop back.

Then it occurred to me to try the "Save" icon at the top right of the screen, and it saved to the DVD as advertised. After that, Puppy shut down as usual.

I've booted the DVD several times since then and everything has worked perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised to find that OpenOffice actually worked when clicked in the Start menu, even though it hadn't been saved during shutdown.

gee, that memory-checking daemon is something I have forgotten about...

I don't remember seeing a SAVE button on my desktop...

It's there, on my multisession DVD, an icon at the top right of the screen next to the "trash" icon. A good thing Barry put it there too, because every time I install new software my multisession refuses to shut down at all unless I use the "save" button first.

I just tried to install the ALSA pupget. The pupget manager shows it there, but I can't find it anywhere. Typing "alsa" in a console returns the message that it is not a bash command. Here's what I see when I mount the multisession DVD and look in the last saved folder:
