Closing Dell inspiron 6000 shuts down window manager?

#1 Post by spiffytech »

I'm trying puppy on a laptop computer (Dell inspiron 6000) aqnd every time I shut the display, the screen blanks and the only way I know to make it come back to life is to press control-alt-delete, which,of course, shuts down Puppy. How can O make the screen come back without doing this?

ctrl-alt-backspace will just shut down X.
then xwin to restart X.

Could be it's actually shutting off the power to the display. Something to do with ACPI or whatever it's called?

It seems that it will come back on if I leave it alone open for a short while (10-30 minutes). I don't know why this is, though.
