Yeah, it looks good. According to Barry's blog, Hairywill has taken on maintaining and hacking JWM for woof as well. That could be good for JWM and us. I don't know how old Patriot's alpha is, but you'd think the maintainers at JWM would want that out there with features like that. :?
The 'old girl' senses Valentine's Day is coming up .. man, that could give AS a run for some eyecandy :)

HairyWill,
load_sfs sounds interesting
What will happen if someone inadvertently runs it twice on the same sfs?
I advertently ran it twice on OpenOffice-3.0.sfs and got:

I tried to use ISOMaster to add some .sfs files to the puppy-4.20alpha4 .iso and got the "not divisible by 4 message" mentioned in:
http://www.puppylinux.org/community/blogs/ove/isomaster
and
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... c28d755bcb
I think this is an issue that should be corrected in 4.2

ttuuxxx,

Tried your new cups driver with both an existing 2fs and then with no save file. My printer is a HP Photosmart C5280 all in one printer and works fine with other distributions.

I was able to locate a driver that has worked before in other distributions (not the correct driver though), however, the printer would not print. error (unsupported format 'application/vnd.cups-command').

I then installed libnetsnmp-15.pet and hpliplite-2.12.pet and CUPS found the correct driver, however, it would not print and gave same error.

Rebooted, and installed your pet along with hpijs-2.8.10.pet. CUPS found the correct driver, however same errors as before.

Incidently, Xsane locates my printer properly.

Thanks for working to sort this CUPS problem with 4.2 out.

Cusp no go

#85 Post by Minnesota »

Posted two hours ago, and it got lost.. must have hit wrong button.

Tried latest pet... It did not see my USB printer, so put in gutenprint to find canon. Still unable to see the usb printer, at initial selection screen of device location. so I went back to A1 and found it used usb://Canon/ip4300, I fed that as local printer.... Cusp initialized.. tried test in Abiword.. I don't think linkage is present, it did not see the printer. Found right button in cusp to run test print... Cusp is waiting in never never land for the printer to show up. So some other linkage is missing.. it is not seeing the usb printer.

Would it be possible to put the date as in, 02 09 09 or similar at the end of the pets for this printer test so we can keep track of which one is the last. I think, or my eyes and tri focals are off.. the last cups pet and the previous are named the same??

 :) , cusp seems to operate, but not seeing everything. Thanks!

Wow! This is some really nice progress

New JWM patch makes Fullscreen flash and bug-free GXine fullscreen possible:

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=273505

Is this fix going to be included in the next version?

I was looking for a icon and came across this new License: WTFPL, boy did I ever laugh reading his comments about it, lol

As for the cups issues, great some response, I'll have a deeper probe in about 1hrs time.

Re: My complaint about isomaster above
Today I tracked down the "divisible by 4" error. Isomaster claims they have fixed it in 1.2, puppy420 has 1.1. So then I found isomaster1.3.5.pet compiled my Muggins and installed it. :) Sure enough no error messages. I added files to the puppy420 iso. I extracted files. I deleted files and saved each time to a new iso. :D

Then I tried to burn them in pburn. No joy! Big error message. "No such file or directory." :( So I fired up puppy412 and burned them no problem. :?

Then I tried to boot from one. "Image checksum error." :x

My tentative conclusion, both versions of ISOMaster are broken. Also, I think pburn in 420 is broken too. It wouldn't burn the stock puppy420 iso which I had burned before in puppy412.

Do we really need ISOMaster anyway? :?: We can mount iso's by clicking and then copy the contents to another folder. I found the code for making bootable iso's from the files in a folder in the forum and used it earlier today. It's quite simple and provided a nice custom puppy iso. Surely someone could build a simple gui for this.

I patched and recompiled CUPS 1.1.23 so that it will cancel jobs now. If you need/want it I can upload it. Don't think I broke anything, unless the source had some other patches.

Hey Guys

For the past 2 days I've been working on this and finally I'm done :)
Hows AlsaPlayer plus Streamtuner + Plus a new streamtuner theme I put together using mostly tango icons sound, Hows a 467kb pet package all in one, preconfigured to work out of the box, Why you may ask, well here's some reasons.

- Gxine is a Laptop Battery killer, I was playing a MP3 and glanced over at htop and my CPU was at 20% for Gxine. The amount of power that Older Laptops take is very high, unlike todays modern CPU's, but puppy really does cater for older PC, Laptops. So Listening to music with gxine is a quick way to kill your Battery.
- PMusic is no cure either, well for MP3's yes it but what if you want to play other formats like M3u audio streams from say Streamtuner, well you can't at the moment, It doesn't play live streams.
- Pmusic does not shut down when you close it, you have to kill it, or reopen Pmusic and close it a second time, well thats a pain and an extra process running.
Now lets look at AlsaPlayer, it has a gtk2 interface, the plugins that come with this package is libcdda, libmad, libvorbis, libsndfile, libwav.
It plays online streams, mp3's, cd's etc, actually a great player for the size, actually its the best one by far by size. It has a playlist, with repeat, you can also speedup the sound and slow it down also.
Oh ya when I played a the same MP3 that was 20% on Gxine, On AlsaPlayer it was 0.5%-1% peak.LOL Same with online radio streams, using Gxine they get choppy and and break up somewhat, on AlsaPlayer they play perfect even when I'm surfing, This is a great package and I hope if we have room after were done with Cups that we might have a bit of room to spare for this great setup.
I didn't change the mime's with this package, well I figured I'll let ya test it out and give some feedback. well enjoy :) its on page 1 of this thread.
ttuuxxx

Ps the last Streamtuner pet was over 600kb alone so this one is pretty good with alsaplayer, I could make a 175kb streamtuner package for Gxine, but it runs way better with AlsaPlayer.

Is it possible to add OpenGL (multitextured) output to gxine?
With modern ATI cards Xv video is buggy or doesn't work at all,so OpenGL output is the only way to have accelerated video on Linux.

have you tried my vlc package? I find that plays the best video on puppy, less resources are used also.
Plus I have it down to 7.6MB now

Does it have OpenGL multitextured output like Mplayer?
Compiled without hardware acceleration
That doesn't sound good. I need it for 'heavy' 1080p HD video streams. No acceleration + single / dual core just won't cut it.

Thanks for both packages :D

Well tempestuous is the Video guru of puppy and this is what he said about the VLC I packaged,

'With "XvMC" output method, the hardware acceleration concept is take one step further by actually decoding the MPEG2 codec ... but that's another story.

I'm pleased to report that this VLC version does include "XVideo" output, refer attached image, so graphics hardware acceleration is certainly available, and automatically in use when possible. '
