I have linux puppy Gallipup and wanting to install an HP printer driver through the terminal. I have the hplip-3.9.2.run in my documents folder. Can someone help guide me on how to enter in the terminal. The cups program doesn't have the driver in it.

Was downloading the wrong file and found the .ppd file to download from the site I listed. Then transferred the file to /usr/share/cups/model directory. After that used the cups program, fairly easy from there.

Thanks rjbrewer, maybe this will enlighten other users as well.

It is an OfficeJet G85 Printer/fax/scanner/copier. I went on this site to downloaded. http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/in ... index.html

Saved in my doc folder as I stated before. But the instruction on that site is confusing to me because I'm not used to doing anything in the terminal, it just didn't look right. Can you help me?

I can't help. Just use a basic old printer with hpijs. Don't know
anything about hplip.
Knowing the model may help someone else give you instructions.

That was the model g85. Did you look at the site I gave you on the command in the terminal? Shall I try to follow that and put in something else beside cd desktop? Is it ok to put user@host in the beginning of that line? I know I downloaded the right file through that site.

I don't have any experience with hplip or using command line
to install printers.
