JL64-605

#1 Post by Dry Falls »

README
App: JL64
Version: 605 k4.4.8
Homepage: dada.dada

Download Directory:
JL64-605

legacy-boot iso now available at gdrive. Dual-hybrid soon. ~360M
all the sfs addons there as well.

Recommend:

DOC.sfs|4709d72628064c2c6c9baa7863b40f48|134|nls locales + documentation
5-JL64_605.sfs|6d8e7e7d7960cd3d3e5376398f011f64|135|qt,perl,python,cupzilla, mozilla-nss + conky (like an a-drive)
gvfs-1.26.3-x86_64-1.sfs|986b5fdc1b1982c9230c0cbed7239984|1|+ gcr, polekit and slackware64-14.1 consolekit -- required by mate and xfce (the daemon addon)*
js185-1.0.0-x86_64-1.sfs|c8251d76aaf25d063308858053869c46|2|not necessary but quiets complaints from dmesg/mozilla.
mate-1.14.0-x86_64-1.sfs|e45cda0ce22181c97920e7f175553c51|112|just because.
Xfce-4.12.0-1-x86_64-3.sfs|9188b20885cfc3d2297b6dbf711ed055|31|contains power management

The preferred method to mount samba shares is with thunar (xfce) or caja (mate) and no longer ssm. Remember to initiate samba first in /File/Desktop (or ~/Desktop) 'StartSamba'. Also, there's the samba addon to load!

Mate replaces KDE in 605, although there is a kdelibs sfs if you like running kde apps (kdegames + superkaramba built in with many kde dependencies)

finally, k4.1.11.tar.gz is available to run the earlier kernel. It was configured with the typical Laurel & Hardy School of Auto Mechanics Method, but seems to run pretty smooth (30-60 fewer kernel processes in the background). Read the readme.

* the upgraded console-kit from slackware refuses to run if you log in as root, so I fired it. It wants to be the unitary session manager, but it seems to me, puppy already is the session manager!

ps, probably unwise to use xorgwizard except in emergencies. The new xorg-server has its own ddc builtin, so ddcprobe (I've hidden it away) only tends to muck things up and then segfaults.

Thanks. Downloaded and booted

Questions
  • Is this the checksum (MD5)?

    Code: Select all

    78a7307959e4d521de60abdc3ceffae7
  • Noticing all of the SFS in the ISO folder (on Google Drive), can they be loaded into the root of the DVD's file (via ISOmaster) such that the boot system will pause and allow selection of the SFSs if finds (similar to LH64's boot subsystem)?
  • Will there be a 605 update with SAMBA resolutions?
  • LxTerminal missing and Console-X does not have a scrollbar.
System operations is quick & smooth.

I am almost ready to move my currently running LH64 Mariner to this new version.

Thanks for your excellent work in what you have done with this distro for community users!

Dry Falls,

Please do not post in the unsorted sub section of Additional Software.
This is just a section for old Puppy programs that were not transfered to specific sub sections.

Please read the first post:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=94763
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
YaPI(any iso installer)
