Puppy-based Personal Video Recorder with MythTV?

#1 Post by gsal »

Hello, everyone:

I am just a fortran developer (not administrator) in unix but new to Linux, or rather I want to be new to it. I am looking to go ahead and setup one of those personal video recorders (mythTV of course) here at home.

I am looking for a nice distribution to install and have mythTV. I know ubuntu has it, but ubuntu comes with too much for a computer that all is going to do is run mythTV; I guess gentoo comes with whatever I want, but is a pain to install; so I was reading up on light distros like DamnsmallLinux and Puppy, too....yeah, I saw the posting regarding DSL vs. Puppy...anyway.

Anyway, Ihave not seen anything regarding mythtv and puppy...any plans of including a package for mythtv, or would I be able to just download mythtv from somewhere else?

thanks,

gsal

Have you done a search of the forum and the wiki.

I think you may have to go it alone on this one at the moment but someone may have similar ideas.
