It's the thread directly above this one. You posted to it yesterday.

well either i looked up something cpmpleatly different. but from that post about quirky, wary adn lupu i dont get where the drivers are situated. but i will ask in that forum ok. as that is the revelent place for it to go, not here now.

but i noticed that when i installed the old splix driver for 431 days it actually worked so problem solved.

I just want shortly say THANK YOU, PATRIOT !

I tried to compile cups myself, since 1.1.23 was working for me but it had been annoying that the pages did not refresh automatically .

Half part seems to not to like libusb-1.0.x and refused to present a printer even with lpinfo -v OR lpstrat -a|-v command .

Have collected the original 1.1.23 and made a pet with all the ghostscript, installed that and printed the test page .

After a while i ran "/etc/init.d/cups stop", installed your pkg, "/etc/init.d/cups start",
AND : IT PRINTED THE TEST PAGE .
I am confident, that it will work further on .
One of my compile had been 1.3.8 and i will have to check the files for everything i can check .

Small thingy : root passwd asked but that's no real problem, think will be fixed in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
and the installscript seems to have needed a small "cd /" :
rm: cannot remove `./root/.TestGtkEmbed/TestGtkEmbed/Cache/*': No such file or directory
rm: cannot remove `./usr/share/doc/cups': No such file or directory
Couldn't watch ./root/.packages/cups-1.3.9-i486.tar.gz: No such file or directory

SPLIX 2.0 works with Samsung ML-1710 in Wary Linux

#66 Post by sindi »

The only puppy I could get working on this old 800MHz Toshiba was Wary.
(The newer ones cannot handle the video).
The Gutenberg driver looks like it should work but it 'prints' and
nothing ever happens - no noises, no print.
I followed the link to Splix drivers, looked up my model, and downloaded
the very small (58K) PET and installed it.
Ran 'add printer' again, was given the choice of Splix drivers and picked
the 1710 (or maybe the 1750) and it prints.

Windows XP uses the Samsung Universal driver and prints everything
much too dark even set to 'lighter'.

Linux prints properly apart from the paper jam. Cleaning may fix it.

Thanks!

If only there were linux drivers for our two Brother all-in-ones.
I have not figured out how to use Windows drivers in linux.

It is a pain to keep XP on one computer just for printing with.
(And then learn that it does NOT work with a printer that does
work with linux).

I have a Brother HL-2275DW laser printer and it plays nicely with Puppy.

Our Brother multipurpose MFC-J450DW printer also works.
