libtar.so.0 (hydrogen)

#1 Post by mimeini »

Hello
I am using puppy 4.1
After I unsuccessfully in various ways have attempted to compile / install drum sequences hydrogen I decided to find a precompiled deb package, extract it and checked dependencies with ldd. I was missing 5 libs. One by one I searched this libs with RPM search and got them into position. Ether I compiled them ore I got precompiled versions. Finally, I stood back with dependencies that I could not get in. It is called libtar.so.0.
When I search the RPM search I get a package called libtar which I compiled. When it is compiled, there is a libtar.a in the lib dir, but no libtar.so.0. There is also a libtar executable in the bin dir. I've tried to make some libtar.so.0-symlink these files, but "ldd" is not happy with this solution. Are there some that have some advice? Can I in some way make a correct libtar.so.0 file out of my libtar.a file. or should I find it otherwise?

Sincerely,
Mikkel

when you compile the package, you might have to use the --enable-shared configure flag

that way, it will compile the shared libs you want

exactly that was the whole thing i needed the libtar.deb packages (i386). That was really it. Well OK the drum sequencer is satisfied and it is starting now but it does not work properly it complains that all 32 bit float mono audio buffers is in use. But that's an other discussion. I tried with the old hydrogen pup converted with pup2pet but that one partly killed my system. Will thanks for the help.

You're welcome! :)
Since you downloaded the hydrogen main package from debian repo it's logical that it has libtar package also 'cause it's dependent on it so debian must have it in repo. ;)
