Develop "portable" apps. & damons?

There's a lot of different factors as to why compiled code isn't portable to any Linux distro.
Is there any way of building apps., damons, etc. that ditch dependancies, libs., etc., & so are distroless programs?
Obviously assembly is an answer, is there another level or two above that, more like a normal programming language?
