Just curious...what is the difference between Standard and Retro??

Kernels. Retro uses an older kernel version, which impacts which hardware is supported. Also, sometimes the retro kernel is compiled with more conservative options compared to the standard one. I don't remember if that is the case for the 4.x series thus far.

Also, kernel modules (aka drivers) compiled for Standard will not work in Retro, and vice versa.
