Version Title Display

#1 Post by kethd »

As I sit before a newborn Pup, wondering if it really is 1.0.6, it seems much harder than it should be to find the Version number.

It would not be amiss to add it somewhere in the basic static desktop layout, or sneak it in to the name of one of the main desktop icons.

Lacking that, it might be nice to have it as a heading at the top of the main menu list when I right-click the desktop background.

Lacking that, how about at the head of the sub-menu when I choose Control Panel?

And regardless of any of that, it would be nice to display it prominently within all three of the first Control Panel functions, "running processes", "KP manage", and "system information".

It certainly seems like it ought to be in the long Xproc Advanced launch log dump. Maybe it is, but it is lost among the fluff.

The only place I could find "1.0.6" was meekly on the main Help page.

There is also an image:
/usr/local/lib/X11/pixmaps/fvwm-menu.xpm

that has the text "Puppy 1.0.6"
But currently only Fvwm 95 displays it.
