Save file questions

#1 Post by Packrat1947 »

I just started using the live version of puppy - on CD-RW media.

How does on save an Abiword file to a partition or USB stick? the drives are mounted, but when I do a SAVE AS, I can never drill down to the proper drives. How can I do this? Never had any trouble with Mint or Ubuntu. Thanks in advance.

You cannot drill down (up) and more than the
File System, because that is the top level

Hi Packrat1947,

if you go to the root of your file system "/" and next into the directory "mnt", you will find your usb stick (most probably called something like "sdb" or "sdb1".

succes

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. It worked perfectly. Now I'm on the right track. I see it also can write to ntfs. That's nice too. I really like Puppy with its ability to be "persistant" with the CD-RW media It seems to do everything right.

I haven't found a way for it to see other computers on the network though.

I sure wish that the linux versions would come to an agreement on "standard conventions" - and would behave the same. Oh well.

Thanks again,
Packrat1947 from Ohio
