How to update Puppy in my XP/Puppy "dual boot"???

#1 Post by sprizz »

I used this:
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/WinXP

to configure a sort-of fake "dual-boot" system........my question is, when a new
version of puppy comes out...can i just copy over the new "image.gz" "vmlinuz" and "usr_cram.fs" ???
Puppy 1.0.7 (cd image on hdd)

yes.
The files in pup001 will be updated automatically then.
I would suggest,to make a backup of pup001 first (simple make a copy of pup001 in Windows).

Some parts are overwritten by the update, for example if you edit the Startmenue manually, the entries get lost.

For that case I would recommend to backup such files, or use an external menueeditor: http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=1985

But your personal documents like Word-Documents will not be overwritten, off course :)
