To avoid a duplicate post, which will annoy people of importance, there is a post relevant to this thread in another thread (to which it is also relevant), here.

rcrsn51: Thanks for all your posts on installing printers and scanners. As a result I can now print and scan off Puppy and forget about W*nd*ws, which is a relief. This looks like an unbelievable amount of work you did, and I just want to let you know how much I appreciate this, plus your patient helpfulness.

Hi all,
Continue after Fresh install - a bit of history from this thread.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=999630#999630
I have read these threads and few others...
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=41939
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=61885
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=59015
But not able to get scanner (Epson WF-2760) working yet.
I used eppi-pet-maker, created epson_wf2760-18.04.pet following http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=61885. Install the .pet afterward. I can see "Epson ImageScan" but nothing happened when trying to run the app.
I used iscan-2.19.0-i486.pet following http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=41939. I can see "Epson Iscan scanner" but also nothing happened when trying to run the app.
I tried installing by clicking all .deb files...install success, can't run app still.
I tried running install.sh from a terminal....errors.
I can't seem to progress...apart from seeing the items created on menu...
What else to do please?
FYI - I use XenPup64-7.5, and downloaded 64 bit driver from Epson.

Further tinkering, after reading few more postings by rcrsn51 and Mike Walsh.
Probably does not apply to me, but....
I put net 10.0.0.44 which is my scanner IP.

Open the file /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf and add "usb 0x04b8 0x0118" on the end.
Try again with iscan and xsane.
Run "sane-find-scanner" and "scanimage -L" |

It looks like you have been mixing 32 and 64bit drivers.
Here is the 64bit version of the Epson epkowa SANE driver, that should work with the XSane scanner app.
As a first test, you should connect directly by USB.

Thanks for the file, rcrsn51.
I connected scanner to USB port, make sure scanner turned on. Installed 64bit file you provided.
A little progress, i.e sane-find-scanner found my [EPSON-WF2760 Series].
Also when I moved scanner to different USB port, sane-find-scanner output changes accordingly.
But xsane still does not see scanner...(Neither Epson IScan/ImageScan, still not running). Also tried scanimage -L.
Maybe, I need to uninstalll whatever I have inadvertently installed? But How? I didn't use PPM to install those.

I downloaded the driver package - it is NOT using the epkowa driver. I'm not even sure if it is SANE-compatible.
So commands like scanimage may not work with it.
Try this:
1. Go into the "core" folder.
2. Click-install the imagescan_3.42.0-1epson4debian9_amd64.deb.
3. Open a terminal and run:imagescan
4. There should also be a menu entry for it under Graphics after a restart.

dll.conf config file Subject description: in sane.d directory |
|
G'day dcung,
Sorry to butt in, but I often have a self-created problem setting up my networked Epson-WF-2510 (multifunction) in a new Pup that gives messages, like the ones you see, when I first try the scanner part.
My self-made sfs of the excellent epkowa package from rcrsn51's pet may not efficiently replace the new Pup's default config file, dll.conf, in /etc/sane.d, with a dll file that includes the needed epkowa line. A difference between a pet and a sfs in ability to replace/overwrite an existing file?
When I delete the default dll.conf with its no mention of epkowa and replace it with links to my modified dll.conf (screenshots), scanning on my WF-2510 is always available with peasyscan, iscan and sane .
I'm running 32-bit Pups so maybe it's different in 64-bit Pups.
But if you haven't already done so, you could check the entry in your dll.conf to confirm it has epkowa listed.

Refer to my previous posting above.
I have installed ubuntu version imagescan_3.42.2-1epson4ubuntu18.04_amd64.deb.
Is that sort of 'same' as debian9 version? Do I need to install debian version instead?
Your instruction 3. Open a terminal and run:imagescan gave more hint though. As I was only running it from menu under Graphics, hence didn't see the error message. This time,I saw the error about libboost_system.so.1.65.1
I tried looking in PPM, but could not find it. I installed the closest libboost_....no luck. Error still there...
Does this error mean anything to you?

Gday David,
Yes, it has epkowa. But rcrsn51 said it's not using the epkowa driver(?).

I installed the package in Debian Stretch-Live using the script. It went into the Debian repo and got several additional packages.
The imagescan app started without errors.
Just out of curiosity, here is something to try that might work with epkowa.
1. Open the file /usr/share/iscan-data/usb
2. Add the line: usb 0x04b8:0x111c
3. Run: scanimage -L

Done. Tried with & without reboot. No joy still..
Afterward I installed imagescan_3.42.0-1epson4debian9_amd64.deb. Installed ok, no complain about the ubuntu version already installed.
Run imagescan again, and got similar error as before libboost_filesystem.so.1.62.0 instead of libboost_system.so.1.65.1

Curious about what David said, I grab another spare laptop, wipe everything on disk and fresh install XenPup75 32 bit. Plug scanner to USB.
Install 32bit imagescan_3.42.0-1epson4debian9_i386.deb.
Run imagescan. Got same error like 64bit XenPup.
Then did everything I did on 64bit and using 32bit stuff instead (sane-backend-epkowa, iscan).
But same error/behaviour on both 64bit and 32bit XenPup75.
