ipod shuffle?

#1 Post by joeuser »

I've been trying to get puppy linux to boot off an ipod shuffle (fat32 formatted). I copied all the files onto the flash drive.
I follow the instructions up to this point, when I get this error:

Code: Select all

C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\puppy2>lock e:

WARNING: The LOCK command enables direct disk access by programs
that can CORRUPT file names and/or DESTROY disk data, resulting in the
loss of files on your disk.

Are you sure (Y/N)?y

C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\puppy2>syslinux.com e:
ERROR 32FF: Filesystem not found on disk

What does that mean? How can I get this to work?

When you get it to work please provide pics for the wiki

Incidentally we have lost the pics of Puppy on an Imac (were linked to simple forums) on our wiki screenshots

any chance of their return :?:

I believe I have got it working, thanks to the valient, tireless effort of "PakRat" on the puppylinux irc chatroom. I plan to test it tommorow on a USB BIOS capable computer tommorow, and if it works, I'll post how we did it.

Yes I was there for some of those efforts. I would like to publicaly apologise to "packrat". In my efforts to be friendly and shorten his name I called him P for Pack and combined this with rat - hence calling him "Prat".

[ahem]

Good to see his hard efforts work out and do not forget the pics. In fact Ian and Flash were also there. They were so overcome with the flurry of IRC messages they had to open a second puppy channel on IRC

for future reference this is how it is done:

"/Join #puppylinux2"

No speech marks and "#puppylinux2" could be any IRC name not taken

Anyone else know any kewl IRC commands? - hmmm - can feel a wiki page coming on

Well, computer's at school don't support USB BIOS booting, which is kind of lame. I've yet to find a computer that does, they are rarer than I expected. Anyway, I believe one of my friends will bring his laptop to school tommorow, which does support usb booting, and I'll let you guys know how it went.

I'm also very eager to hear about the success of booting puppy from an iPod shuffle. I certainly hope it works!
