How to setup an hp j4500 printer (Solved!)

#1 Post by wah fun »

I have successfully setup an hp 5510 which is a similar all-in-one but cannot get the hp j4500 setup. Anyone know how to do it?

I have installed, cups 1.3.10, hpijs-3.9.4-dynppds, and hpijs 2-8-2 static.

thx

Solution: Uninstalled and re-installed cups 1.3.10 and hpijs; removed hpijs-2.8.2-static.

Big Thanks to rcrsn511

The hpijs-3.9.4-dynppds package has an entry for the "Officejet j4500 Series". Did this not work?

I am truly sorry about being a noob pest but maybe someday I can help someone else. Anyway, no, I can't seem to get the hpijs-3.9.4-dynppds package to install the hp j4500. In fact, unlike with the hp 5510, cups doesn't even see the hpj4500.

I tried re-installing the hp packages but it didn't help.

thx in advance for your help.

Do you mean that the printer model is not listed or that the device is not detected?

You don't need both HPIJS packages. The 3.9.4 package replaces the 2.8.2 package.
