Mozilla vs. Firefox

#1 Post by GuestToday »

Puppy comes with Mozilla (1.8b2) browser as default. Is there a reason that Mozilla was selected instead of Firefox? Do the Firefox extensions work in Mozilla? Don't even see an extensions tool in Mozilla.

I like the "Clear Private Data" option in Firefox (and Opera also), but doesn't seem to be available in Mozilla.

some extensions work
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/? ... on=mozilla

basically, download the extension file, then click File, Open File to install the extension

There was a long discussion of the relative merits of various browsers some time ago in the forum. If you can find it perhaps it will have the answer to your question.

Short answer is that space is saved as mozilla allows several programs to share the same code. That's generally the reason people use it over individual programs. The people who preffer individual programs tend to be those like me who don't use the other parts.

There are extensions for Firefox AND extensions for Mozilla:
Mozilla:
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/? ... on=mozilla
Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/? ... on=firefox

Here are some of my favourites.
