(SOLVED) CUPS-PDF force to black & white /how to?

#1 Post by charlie6 »

Hi,
I use CUPS (-PDF or -PS) to print graphic documents, drawings,... (especially drawings from QCad which can be printed directly in PS).
I did not find any other else black and white setup than "greyscale". So colours are printed from light (very) grey to black depending on the colour.

I have tried CUPS options like

Code: Select all

# lpoptions -p CUPS-PDF -o saturation=0
# lpoptions -p CUPS-PDF -o blackplot
whithout change...!

Some document are so hardly difficult to read.

I had like a setup forcing all in black, and white for the background - i.e. in true balck and white setup instead of a greyscale.

Does anyone already fix this?

Thanks for answering!
Cheers
Charlie

Is it possible to convert the document to black-and-white from inside QCad?

Or maybe you could run the file through something like ImageMagick to reduce the colour depth.

HI rscn51,
I think I got an acceptable and quick result using XvView, loading a b/w saved file from QCad (or else software), and setting image with the "HUE" image setting; there forcing the image to red with the below setting and save it as postscript. Afterwards I convert it to pdf if needed using SAM2P or GQview.
Resolution is not affected.
I like more and more using Xnview and Sam2p for regular and even intensive use . They look very reliable tools.
Thanks for your time!
Cheers, Charlie
