Lexmark E322 not printing with puppy 4.1.2

It just makes a .PDF file instead of printing.
Tried generic postscript lpr with both Abiword and Geany.
Do I need to install CUPS first ?

Installed CUPS, rebooted, still not printing.

Isn't cups already installed in 412? Anyway, this link says that the printer works with the Ghostscript ljet4 driver, so you could try running Menu>Setup>CUPS Printer Wizard, and try adding a printer using the Ghostscript driver.

Thanks to your helpful info it prints fine now, muggins.
Downloaded the PPD file and followed the instructions in the wizzard.
Learning is the name of the game.
