ttuuxx,
yes, the crashbit theme is huge.
It uses 128x128 icons to give a great look in wbar and other gimmicks, and it includes a icon cache file.
I just added everything to have something to test quickly.
To distribute final themes for Rox, your solution is much more effective of course concerning size.

aaaaa WBar ,now I see why you have 128x128 icons, I couldn't figure that one out, also the 16x16 icons that comes with crashbit is undersized for icewm, Nice theme lots of links but also lots of nice icons also. I might use some in the future.MU wrote:ttuuxx,

Now THAT works! Thanks, Mark!MU wrote:oh yes, I was wrong
Hm, but I don't know, if this also works in Rox 2.5!
I just tested it now in Puppy 4.2.0.
You must edit the Gtk rc file, for me this is:
/root/.gtkrc.mine
or:
/root/.gtkrc-2.0
You need such a line in it:Then restart Rox (restart X), or run gtkrefresh.Code: Select all
gtk-icon-theme-name="Crashbit"
The source for gtkrefresh is included here:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=26953
I attach a binary of gtkrefresh, extract it in /usr/local/bin
Sorry for all that confusion

Here is the eXperience Gtk theme that uses its own icons using the method I tried to describe earlier.
It uses a directory under /gtk2.0 called icons and that contains a definition file iconrc which is called from the gtkrc file in the /gtk2.0 directory. This way when you change the Gtk theme you also change the menu bar icons to match. Unpack the attached theme to explore how it works.

of course you could use here the same way to switch, as I described above, using symlinks.
For example .gtkrc-2.0 could use this line:
puppy-icon-theme would be a symlink in /usr/share/icons/.
It would point to one of the themefolders there, or to a 24x24 folder as ttuuxx describes it, with only matching icons.
But in that case you must pay attention, because then applications that also use "gtk-icon-theme-name", must also have icons.
So it would be good, to use such a folder structure:
/usr/share/icons/test-theme
/usr/share/icons/test-theme/index.theme
/usr/share/icons/test-theme/24x24/ ..... icons ....
index.theme needs a line, that inherits from another theme, so if icons miss, the ones from the "parent" theme will be used.
So here, a program will first try to use exquisite icons, or if they miss, the ones from Crashbit or gnome.
You can see a full example of such a index.theme in the exquisite icontheme here:

If I understand you correctly your trying to find where this icon is located? It doesn't seem to exist (as a picture), at all! I have it there when I open ROX, but I've searched through every picture (it would have been quicker if I'd have cleared my browser's history, never mind) and it isn't there.
Its the same with some of the other icons there, the 'up' icon that's half shaded, can be found in blue, but not in green which is what it is in ROX. I'm not so sure about the help icon either, there are one's that are similar, but I don't think they're the same.
I don't really understand this, if they're not there, how does Puppy use them?
Edit: Wow, it usually tells me if someone's posted before I submit, not this time, two pages!

Well I managed to port puppy the 4.2 desktop+menu icon switcher to 2.14r, It took some code hacking, but it works perfect now, and its about 300 times quicker, lol I removed the popup dialog box, so once you click a theme, it automatically changes the theme and it does effect the background image or hot pup, I reused some of the code from the refresh menus thats built into 2.14r. So now I'm really happy The cool thing is that on the puppy package manager that I hacked and gave tabs and 48x48 icons, they change with the theme also now thats cool

Yeah, I'm not quite sure what happened there?
I downloaded that picture from the net, so I could upload it for clarity (and I couldn't find it in Puppy). I had it in my /root/ directory and since then I've rebooted and now it copies itself to /root/.thumbnails/normal/ upon boot up. I can tell because every time I boot up, the folder's text is in bold. like when you've just changed something about it, but its just got a load of numbers for the name, weird.
Would it be possible for Puppy to make those icons on the fly, somehow?

Although I have a problem when I maximize PetGet package manager, as you can see in the attached file, It shows nothing in the left side where it usually has the packages category (Desktop, System, Internet, etc).
I would like that colum for "Package", "description" and "dependecies" could be resized for easy search and read. Is that possible ttuuxxx?
Thank you ttuuxxx, for your efforts making these themes.

There is no need to max the size the of the package manager due to the fact that the 2 series never had that extra left column option, When I resued the series 4 package manager on the 2 series I first removed the extra left column because I was trying to make it as small as possible for small screen users like eeepc, acer one, and it didn't work anyways due to the layout of the system, I would of had to typed out hundreds of lines of code to update it.clarf wrote:I like new package manager looks and feel in 2.14r.ttuuxxx wrote:Here's what the package manager looks like with the 3 themes

So the way you have it is perfect for the 2 series, If i update 4/5 series it might be different.

Oh but if your talking about the description/dependencies on the right hand side scrolling, I'll look into that it should max and reduce the need to scroll.

Oakems, that's normal, if you had that icon on /root, rox showed it to you as a "preview", and when it does it, it always creates a thumbnail in /root/.thumbnails/normal/; this happens also when you're browsing a dir with pictures inside of it...That's why in rox's options you have that "purge thumbnails cache" button, in order to avoid to fill up that thumbnail dir too much..As opposite, obviously, if you don't delete those thumbnails, when you browse an image dir you had already browsed, image previews load a lot faster.and since then I've rebooted and now it copies itself to /root/.thumbnails/normal/ upon boot up
Back to rox's original "go-home" icon, the only explanation I give me is that it's inside rox's executable, since I can't find it anywhere...
