New version updated to Firefox 3.5.2.
- Pictureviewer for PDF without the launchbuttons
- And (I think) better fonts for browsing (DaJa VU and Libaration Serif)
If you want more 'Web'fonts, download and install the Microsoft Webcore Fonts with this script:

Fine Wine!
Well my app I installed under wine now works fine! Whereas before it displayed lots of squares instead of text after installing MS fonts it now works properly. I had to fiddle with which version of wine I installed but used one of the latest versions from puppy.ca site.
Trouble
Hi,
I've been wanting to try out Browserlinux, but, every time I boot from the CD, I end up with a kernel panic when the system attempts a 'switch_root to layered filesystem', and the message "Not syncing - attempted to kill init!"
Any ideas what could be the matter? This is not the first Browserlinux CD I've burned, and all have had the same troubles. I'm using a Packard Bell Easynote, if that's any use.

Hi,
does not get a WIFI connection from
a RTL 8185 PCMCIA WLAN card to a Nokia 5800
Joikusoft.fi Handy-WLAN Router software.
I am using the Nokia 5800 Mobile phone via the
Joikusoft.fi Softwareware router as a WLAN router,
but the joikuspot software works only in
WLAn adhoc mode, not in master mode,
and this is why I don´t get a connection
to the router...
Can you change to a newer disti as the base,
which supports better the Adhoc mode in WLAN
systems ?
I need to get my tablet PC via browserlinux
to connect via WLAN...
Many thanks.

Puppy not saving changes on shutdown (password at boot - hea
Hi Martin,
I've recently downloaded (for first time) this puplet and engaged the password request (heavy encryption) at boot option.
I spent an entire day downloading add-ons and modding my firefox353 the way I like it, only to find on subsequent bootup my changes were not saved (pup_save_crypta)
Even when I click the 'save' icon on desktop prior to shutdown, it still reverts to the version of firefox I had prior to invoking password at boot option. Even my open webpages are not saved; I still get the same webpages on bootup of firefox that I had previously.
What could the possible cause of this be? I have searched extensively on this forum but found nothing, and was thinking maybe it had something to do with this puplet, and with the password at boot option in particular.

And now I cannot even reformat the memory card because it's write protected! I've even gone into windows and edited the registry, to no avail.
Edit: solved this by locking and then unlocking using switch at side of card, permitted reformat then, even though card not locked in first place!

I've given up using browserlinux, because it runs terribly slow and locks up for indeterminate lengths. It might be the add-ons I have installed or something, I just don't know (exch, disablemenu, rss ticker, yahoo mail notifier, yahoo mail ad blocker, tabscope, ).
There doesn't appear to be any support either for this derivative.

I did this:
1. got microsoft true type core fonts
http://thelinuxbox.org/downloads/fonts/ ... nts.tar.gz
2. put them in /usr/share/fonts/default/TTF
now have nice polish letters in Abiword.

I find it very snappy and easy to configure. I've used similar add-ons but for google apps, Gmail etc. and no slow downs. Maybe reset FF back to default and see if its an add on. Check your network speed and/or wireless reception. Its still basically puppy with all the same support we get for puppy linux all around.stiginge wrote:I've given up using browserlinux, because it runs terribly slow and locks up for indeterminate lengths. Hope you get things smoothed out.
