I've given up using browserlinux, because it runs terribly slow and locks up for indeterminate lengths. It might be the add-ons I have installed or something, I just don't know (exch, disablemenu, rss ticker, yahoo mail notifier, yahoo mail ad blocker, tabscope, ).

There doesn't appear to be any support either for this derivative.

Hi Martin,

thanks for your great puplet, wow very nice fonts in FF including my polish fonts.
My problem is I dont have polish letters in the dokuments in Abiword,
any help, please:)

Ive tried this:
1. menu / desktop / chooselocale / fetch button - but no downloads
2. abiword / tools / set language / polish + make default for document - but it doesnt work for me.

I did this:
1. got microsoft true type core fonts
http://thelinuxbox.org/downloads/fonts/ ... nts.tar.gz
2. put them in /usr/share/fonts/default/TTF

now have nice polish letters in Abiword.

I find it very snappy and easy to configure. I've used similar add-ons but for google apps, Gmail etc. and no slow downs. Maybe reset FF back to default and see if its an add on. Check your network speed and/or wireless reception. Its still basically puppy with all the same support we get for puppy linux all around.
Hope you get things smoothed out.

There is newer BrowserLinux based on Puppy Linux 4.3.1 / kernel 2.6.30.5 (SMP)
http://www.browserlinux.com/

Unfortunately fonts in the browser are blurred.
Martin - why?

Hello, I like this. I used it from cd running in ram. I was wondering how can I add the eldy .sfs to it .I wanted to make a cd or usb to show off both Eldy and Puppy to a group of seniors. Your puplet is light weight and not loaded with a lot of unneeded apps. Thank you in advance.

I can't find the 68MB version anymore. I found only 70 something newer version.

Where can I get the old slim version?

Success. I searched the forum and found out how to load the Eldy .sfs. I then loaded the Java pet from the Browserlinux website. Then ran Eldy. Now could someone tell me how to remaster this on my laptop to create an iso? Please.

I love Browser Linux, but can't use it as there's no printer drivers. Is there a pet for this? I really wanted this program for my wife as it's so simple to use. For many people, printing goes hand in hand with browsing.

Burnt the CD and booted. Looked fine, but trying to dialup got
error message missing libwvutils.so,3.7

So I went back and booted to my puppy 4.1 and found two
directories where this file, and a couple more libwv*, are
located. So I copied libwv* from /usr/lib in puppy 4.1 across
to /usr/lib location in BrowserLinux. Now BrowserLinux dialled
up okay, and connected at 48000 with no complaint, but by
the time I brought up the browser the connection had
been dropped.

Tried twice, same thing both times. Obviously BrowserLinux
doesn't cater for dialup,
to save others the time and trouble of
trying it only to discover that for themselves..

I got the Browserpuppy I use a while back. How to tell what ver. I have? I see its now browserlinux?
I use it from USB stick on old WYSE systems. Ram can be as low as 64meg, nothing works on that, 128, 256, 512meg.
From usb fine and frugal install on non standard flash IDE works.

I just tried Browserlinux 353? It locks up at 1st firefox start up while trying to download data for startup screen. This has meant on other puppy that 128meg ram not enough ram? Does your new VER need more ram?

All I wanted to do on the wyse was surf the net while having a net radio station playing.

Micro is GX1 at 300mhz. Ram 64 to 512meg, fixed. Flash IDE 32 to 512meg, upgrade possible. S30, S50, S90 VER

Other puppy the sound breaks up bad while I surf net but Browserpuppy
sound very stable. Older pups like 2.17 no sound ever, alsa ver. to old. Other pups dont like only 128meg ram and crash if web site has too much going on.

Newest ver of WYSE super small systems, paperback book size of 1.5 x 4.5 x 6.5 inch, cost $300.00 and up but use 1gig via micro and a VX855 chip with up to 2gig flash drive and 2gig ddr2 ram and they fly.
C30LE, C90LE, C90LEW ver.
Retired from GM, a Etech on engine electronics
Like to play with older computers and TVs
