You2pup works (June 2016) YouTube downloader
you2pup needs gtkdialog
Not usable in Pulp (4.1.2) or Basiclinux.
gtkdialog has dozens of dependencies.
Nice to have a choice of You2pup, youtube-dl,
gtk-youtubeviewer, and movgrab.

Re: Version 2.3 works with Lupu 5.2.8.6
I don't know how to pipe it to mplayersindi wrote:You2pup downloads in lupu 5.2.8.6.
Requires X.
Can I use yt-download.sh CLI and pipe to mplayer
rather than starting the download and then typing
mplayer /path/to/*.3gp?
mplayer works in framebuffer.

Version 2.7.4: - Bugfix - when checking if output file exists
Ver .a: supply video id box with the only opened YouTube window. If 2 or more, than it will supply video id of first opened YouTube window
Ver b: presents selections of video ids to choose
a and b, firefox only with opened YouTube window(s)
see main post

Version 2.7.5:
GUI:
- Decided to go with b version which give multiple urls if available in firefox data
- Have to open at least 1 FIREFOX tab/window of Youtube video to make button appear
- Non FIREFOX user can still usse it by copying & pasting video_id
- Now list with title to make user easy
- give info if url(s) is not yet ready in firefox data
Script:
- wget only, no curl
- still can be used in many distros as stand alone cli app (dependecies: bash, wget, dialog)
- Now can grab .webm also
see main post

Version 2.7.7: GUI - add firefox search button, so user can launch you2pup before opening firefox. on its first search launch, you2pup window will close and re-open in 10 secs (to give time for firefox to open if slow connection), remeember the catcth url button only appears if at least 1 firefox youtube window is opened and focused
Other browsers still can copy and paste as usual
see main post

Version 2.7.8: I changed the download script to a modified perl script from https://calomel.org/youtube_wget.html , the bad thing is that it doesn't give options to download, only mp4 by default ( you may change the script to download other format. but only1 at a time). I will try to convert it to bash so that I can easily suit it to my needs. I don't know any perl Very Happy . at least it works on my slacko 6.3.0 with its perl
Suggestion:
- Update VID field in the main window when clicking on a thumb in the search window
- Activate search when pressing enter
require you2pupsearch to run in the background - adding an '&' at the end of the line
The timer updates the VID field instead of the button
